We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” Is a quote from the French priest and philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin that I wrote down a while ago. As we practiced this morning around the theme of the heart chakra, this quote resonated in me as it only is a reminder of the thoughts we tend to develop in our modern world that a body is a body, a heart is a heart aka blood pump, and that through our 5 senses we can get a full grasp of what is around us. We tend to see ourselves as “human beings having a spiritual experience” rather than the other way... as a yoga teacher I like to recall that a chakra is not fancy, mystic thing but rather a concrete word for defining where our energies and hence our spirit goes.
