First losing our beloved dad suddenly and then nearly losing our sister just 2 weeks later to a brain abscess 😳😥💔. I certainly live by the motto that you only get one life! But bloody hell... We've completed lots of coastal walks, but never from The Sound to the Chasms 🤷🏻‍♀️. Whenever you go on holiday a walk to spot local wildlife is always on the agenda. So why don't we do it more here... I haven't even completed the wallaby walk yet. It's true what they say about missing what's on your doorstep! So, today was the day... And after a clamber over rocks to spot the local seal population on kitterland, we headed off. During our stomp we saw lots of rabbits, loaghtan sheep, numerous sea birds and 2 dolphins (no, they weren't walking @cbelchersmith 🤣)! Jaspers new camera was a great source of entertainment... and distraction. When you look outside the window and see grey weather, it can be frustrating! What is there to do on a wet and windy day on the Isle of Man?!? Well, I can tell you - head to the plantations 🌳 I would never plan a full day out, as when you get soggy feet it's no fun for anyone. But a couple of hours is great and the trees provide great cover. You'll find there's lots of trails to explore. During this adventure we enjoyed a stroll around Cringle plantation & reservoir - not too far from South Barrule. It's a hot spot for mountain bikers, so keep an eye (or ear) out and follow the blue dot trail which hugs the periphery of the area. This morning's weather kept us indoors, as we watched the thunder and lightening passing overhead 🌩️🌩️🌧️. The problem with being on holiday though, is that a day indoors is a day wasted, so by early afternoon we were out again. Due to the reason, we planned a visit to "Cue Zone IOM". A snooker and pool hall based near the airport. It was well set up and the boys enjoyed a few games for an hour or so. As we left, the clouds had parted and we were able to enjoy a wander around Castletown. The wind was blowing quite strong this morning, so we took the 5 minute drive to Chapel Bay #portstmary - It was lovely and calm! We got the kayak out for a paddle and the boys demanded we give them a tow too 🤣 After lunch it was still warm, but we know this weather isn't going to last, so we took a stroll along the beautiful coast up to Milners tower. Day 2 was another bright but crazy day in Port Erin. After a lazy breakfast we strolled down the hill and literally fell into the water! It was lovely to enjoy the tranquil setting before the madness began 🏖️. We started the day with clearing lots of glasses from the coves beside port Erin beach - such a shame. Please be mindful and take your rubbish home, please 🙏 @beachbuddiesisleofman We then cheered our friend Simon on in his swimming race, he did amazingly well 🌟. Then we enjoyed our first family paddleboarding session with, the very patient, Jackson @porterinpaddleboards... Pretty awesome Day 1 of our @visitporterin Staycation 🏖️🦀🍕🌅🎇 We didn't stop for a breath to ensure we made the most of our first day and more importantly while we still have the sun with us ☀️. We certainly struck it lucky and enjoyed all the family entertainment provided by Festival of the Sea. Great family day out and more to come today! We finished off our evening with amazing pizza with the best views @byrons.iom and finally a beautiful fireworks display. Everything on our doorstep and a great place to live! Yesterday was the Manx 3 Peaks challenge with the IOM children's centre, I was so looking forward to it! But the weather was not playing ball🌫️🌫️. It was really thick fog! But we still got organised and headed to the event, only to find it had been cancelled 😔😭😭😭. But, then I thought.... I've done my training walks, I know the route. I had OSmAnd (offline maps) and three words on my phone. I had food and drink. I had the right gear 🤔... So I quickly convinced the girls that we could still do it! And luckily they agreed, because it was brilliant! We walked, we talked, we squealed and we really enjoyed it (even the hills were tough! 🥵). The organisers made a very tough & right decision for them. But I believe we made the right decision for us. Its about knowing you can make your own choices in life! Sea to summit... From Ramsey this time 🚶‍♀️. . All part of the #manx3peaks #training. This is where we will start from in exactly 2 weeks time. But it's by far the steepest section and so I need to get my body ready for the challenge. . The first stage is to walk from Ramsey beach up to Hibernia. Then along a small section of road and start the ascent of North Barrule! My goodness my calves were on fire 🔥. And don't get my started on how many false peaks there were 🙄 . Then onto the ridge with lots of up and down - how many peaks were we walking again 🤔?? Finally, upon reaching black hut I climbed Snaefell to complete my 2 peak challenge. A total climb of over 1,000m and in 2 hours 40 mins!
