In May 2023, Fazlul Kabir was elected as the first Muslim mayor of College Park and the first Muslim mayor in the history of the U.S. state of Maryland. Dr. Kabir holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and previously served as an information engineer for the federal government as well as teaching cybersecurity at the University of Maryland for eight years. #USAinJO
