Sometimes a caption isn’t necessary as nature tells the story perfectly. To experience this right at the lodge is a privilege for us, and a reminder of just how special the African bushveld really is. #tshukudu #tshukudugamelodge #big5 #nature #elephant #hoedspruit #safari #tourism #travel
They’ve been stealing all the attention on the reserve, and for good reason. Our cheetah cubs are too cute for words, and on every guests “to see” list. If you’ve got an upcoming stay with us, ensure your camera bag is packed. If you’ve stayed with us recently and saw them, please share some of your photos in the comments. We’d love to see them! #tshukudu #tshukudugamelodge #hoedspruit #cheetah #cubs #cheetahcubs #safari #big5 #bigcats #fastcats #travellocalsa #newborn
August 12 is a day to honour one of Earth’s most magnificent creatures with World Elephant Day! It is estimated that 100 elephants are killed daily by poachers. World Elephant Day was created to raise awareness and create change to save Africa’s giants! Elephants date back to as far as 278 B.C. when the Greek general ‘Pyrrhus’ invaded Southern Italy with an army that included 20 armed elephants. Elephants have been around forever, and it’s crucial to ensure they stay around. If you’ve been in their presence you’ll know just how magnificent they are! They’re a keystone species who create and maintain the ecosystems they live in, and make it possible for a myriad of plant and animals species to live in. #tshukudu #tshukudugamelodge #hoedspruit #elephant #worldelephantday #big5 #safari #conservation #protectourelephants #tourism
World Lion Day is celebrated annually on 10 August. The day aims to raise awareness about the plight faced by lions, and their dwindling population. Included in the endangered species category on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List, it highlights just how crucial conservation efforts are to keep the King of the Jungle around for a while. Some interesting facts about lions: 1. A lions mane will change colour as it grows older, going from light to dark. 2. Females are the mightier hunters, hunting 80% to 90% of the time. 3. They’re heavy and long sleepers, often dozing off for 20 hours per day. #tshukudu #tshukudugamelodge #hoedspruit #cat #big5 #cats #bigcats #worldlionday #conservation

A mother’s love exists everywhere! A few weeks ago Lacy gave birth to her cubs. Cheetah cubs are born with a thick grayish mane, providing a layer of camouflage from predators. About 3 months later, this new born hair is lost. She can also be seen licking her cubs, can any of our followers guess what the reason for this is? Let us know in the comments! #tshukudu #tshukudugamelodge #hoedspruit #cubs #cheetah #safari #cheetahcubs #newborn

From selling feather dusters and ketties, to tracker and general worker at Tshukudu Game Lodge. Meet Aubrey Ngobeni, his cheerfulness and positive outlook on life convinced us to employ this young man back in January and help him work towards his dream of becoming a game ranger. Aubrey is a qualified level 3 tracker, but due to covid and unforeseen circumstances he ended up making and selling items on the streets of Hoedspruit. We at Tshukudu Game Lodge believe in growing and empowering our employees to become successful and independent individuals who can support themselves, their families and their loved ones. Be sure to look out for Aubrey’s infectious and positive smile on your next game drive with us! #tshukudu #tshukudugamelodge #hoedspruit #travellocalsa #gameranger #growth #safari
18 July has been declared as Nelson Mandela International Day. This years theme is: “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” Today we took the opportunity to give back to society and who else better than the very same people who are still fighting the fight for survival daily. Our friendly feather duster and kettie entrepreneurs of Hoedspruit and a couple of petrol jockeys. They always have a friendly smile on their face and are ready to assist wherever they can. Positive change begins with small actions! #tshukudu #tshukudugamelodge #hoedspruit #inspirechange #nelsonmandeladay #community
July 16 is World Snake Day. It’s an opportunity to celebrate snakes, raise awareness about the different species all over the world and their preservation. In the images shared is a puff adder and boomslang that were captured and released safely back into the reserve. Our passion for conservation at Tshukudu runs deep, as every opportunity is used to ensure animals are relocated back to their natural habitats. Some interesting snake facts: 1. They have teeth and fangs. 2. They drink water without lips. 3. They smell the air to hunt. 4. They have unique skeletons. #tshukudu #tshukudugamelodge #hoedspruit #worldsnakeday #snakeawareness #conservation #puffadder #boomslang #worldsnakeday2022
