The Ginza Maison Hermès building shines like a lantern light 🕯️ Designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano in 2001, the building is covered with approximately 15,000 highly transparent 45 cm² glass blocks, and the columns are kept as thin as possible, giving the building a beautiful appearance that brings even more sophistication and glamour to the streetscape of Ginza. #tokyoartsandculture 📸: @itchban #ginza #ginzamaisonhermes #tokyoarchitecture #銀座 #tokyotrip #tokyostreet #tokyophotography #tokyojapan #tokyotokyo #culturetrip #explorejpn #japan_of_insta #japan_art_photography #japan_great_view #theculturetrip #japantrip #bestphoto_japan #thestreetphotographyhub #nipponpic #japan_photo_now #tokyolife #discoverjapan #japanfocus #japanesestyle #unknownjapan #streetclassics #timeless_streets #streetsnap #artphoto

The Nijubashi Bridge, which spans in front of the Imperial Palace's main gate, has stood here since the Edo period (1603-1867) and was once made of wood. It is said that the name "Nijubashi" derives from the fact that in the olden days, this steel bridge was made of wood and was further reinforced with wooden beams, thus creating a so-called double bridge. The current bridge was replaced in 1964 and is used only for official events of the Imperial Court. #tokyoartsandculture 📸: @my.vacation.itineraries #imperialpalacetokyo #皇居外苑 #二重橋 #tokyotrip #tokyostreet #tokyophotography #tokyojapan #tokyotokyo #culturetrip #explorejpn #japan_of_insta #japan_art_photography #japan_great_view #theculturetrip #japantrip #bestphoto_japan #thestreetphotographyhub #nipponpic #japan_photo_now #tokyolife #discoverjapan #japanfocus #japanesestyle #unknownjapan #streetclassics #timeless_streets #streetsnap #artphoto

The Nihonbashi Ebisu-ko Bettara-ichi festival is held on October 19 and 20, centering around the Takarada Ebisu Shrine 🏮 This traditional festival has been around since the Edo period and is said that it originated from a market established to sell offerings for Ebisu-ko, an event to worship Ebisu-sama, the god of business prosperity. The Bettara-ichi name came from bettarazuke, a type of pickled daikon popular in Tokyo, that was sold there. The market attracts many people to the approximately 500 stalls and has become a popular autumnal event in Nihonbashi. #tokyoartsandculture 📸: @d_sun41 #nihonbashi #japanesefestival #日本橋 #べったら市 #japantraditional #japanculture #artandculture #artculture #culturalexperience #artexperience #culturetrip #theculturetrip #japantrip #tokyotrip #tokyophotography #tokyojapan #tokyotokyo #explorejpn #unknownjapan #discoverjapan #japan_of_insta #nipponpic #japanfocus #japanesestyle #artphoto #artstagram

The Tokyo Daibutsu (Great Buddha) at Jōrenji Temple in Itabashi has a 600-year history. Its significance is underscored by a visit from Tokugawa Ieyasu, the renowned shogun of the Edo Shogunate. This serene figure of the Tokyo Daibutsu serves as the symbol of the temple and was erected in 1977, representing wishes that natural disasters and war will never happen again. #tokyoartsandculture 📸: @tktmo #itabashi #daibutsu #板橋区 #東京大仏 #japantraditional #japanculture #artandculture #artculture #culturalexperience #artexperience #culturetrip #theculturetrip #japantrip #tokyotrip #tokyophotography #tokyojapan #tokyotokyo #explorejpn #unknownjapan #discoverjapan #japan_of_insta #nipponpic #japanfocus #japanesestyle #artphoto #artstagram

"Our New World (Toranomon)", a large-scale public artwork, was permanently installed at Toranomon Hills Station this past July. This artwork's concept and production were overseen by Asami Kiyokawa, a Tokyo-based artist renowned for her exploration of "fashion and the avenues of self-expression". The vast stained glass windows, comprising 3,351 glass pieces in 243 distinct patterns, vividly portray the "transitions" within people and landscapes.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum recently hosted "Summer Session 2023: Open Access to Culture" over nine days, spanning from July 29th to August 6th. This program aims to promote efforts to advance initiatives that foster a harmonious society, serving as a lasting legacy of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. In line with this year's theme, "Accessibility and Co-creation," the event featured exhibitions, engaging talk sessions, insightful lectures, and interactive workshops. These activities served as a platform for cultivating "new forms of communication" aimed at realising a harmonious society through the medium of art and culture. Photo 1-2: Kazuhiko Hiwa, "walkingpractice feat. HIWADROME" This exhibition featured works using more than 60 wheelchairs as materials. The work raises questions about diverse perceptions, physical sensations, and communication with different people. A 3D printer installed in the centre of the exhibition was constantly creating works based on the inspirations Hiwa received during the exhibition. Photo 3-5: NISHINARI YOSHIO, "Co-Creation Activity" This exhibit reproduced the store scene of a fashion brand launched jointly by artist Yoshinari Nishio and the women (obachan) who attend the kioku handicraft centre "Tansu," a former wardrobe store in Nishinari-ku, Osaka. Innovative fashions were lined up, created from old clothes with the lives of local people sunk into them. (Members of the production team in the 4th photo: From left to right, Ms. Matsumoto, Ms. Sudo, Ms. Shintani, Ms. Ota, and Ms. Ihara) Photo 6-7: Hayato Tabata and magnet "TOUCH PARK" This exhibit features playground equipment that allows visitors to enjoy the sensation of touch by closing their eyes and relying on the sensations of their hands and hints from the tactile parts to move forward on their own. Also on display were several table games that could be enjoyed by using the senses of the fingertips, which visitors were able to experience firsthand.
