Grandpa came to take you home today Nana, he brought you to see Jane, Janice, Freddy, your mom and your dad. It was his time to be with you again and I know you’re up in heaven celebrating being back with the man you loved most. You will never know the true magnitude in which you were loved. You were loved not only by your daughters, your grandchildren, and your great grandchildren, rather you were loved by every single person who had the pleasure of meeting you. You taught me how to be selfless, how to love without limits, how to show care, compassion and empathy to everyone I encounter. Most importantly you showed me what it was like to be loved unconditionally by you. You are and always have been my guardian angel it just has a different meaning to me now. Even though when the song “Grenade” came out you said you wouldn’t jump in front of a train for me… I knew that simply was not true because, you would have gladly jumped in front of a train if it meant you would be saving anyone let alone saving me. You were the person who would give the shirt off your back to someone you had just met not even a moment before. You were the person who would wipe the tears of a stranger if you passed them by. You were the person I learned from the most. You taught me to be strong, you taught me to be fearless, and you taught me the importance of being the light in someone’s life when they need it most. You were my light, you always will be my light and the love I have for you will never go out. I promise I will make you proud and be the woman you raised me to be. Nana: The woman I have looked up to and aspired to be like my entire life. The woman who would give the shirt off her back even if it left her with nothing else. The woman who loves so hard that you’ll never question what it means to be loved. She is strong. She is brave. She is fierce. It was never a question in my mind what I would get as my first tattoo it was always when? Having in her handwriting a permanent reminder of how much she loves me is worth more than anybody will ever know. I have carried around a letter she wrote to me for 3 years now waiting on the opportunity to bring it in to a shop and have it tattooed and yesterday I finally did. I will never forget the look on her face when she saw it, and I hope she knows I love her just as much as she loves me 💜
