Sharing with you the final pics of our new #EcosystemRestorationMural, that we just finished painting with artist @carlosalberto_art in the heart of New York City! This mural was created as part of a series of murals that we are painting across the world in support of the @unep and @fao ‘s Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a global effort to halt and restore biodiversity to prevent dramatic climate change by 2030. |--| Swipe through to see all the great content we captured of this massive mural |--| 📍 Mural: North Javits Center, crossing of W 39th St & 11th Avenue This 12,800 sq ft mural was painted in just ten days, and it stands as a pledge to restore ecosystems and bring tree equity to every community as part of the global effort to curb dangerous climate change. It features a woman embracing a tree surrounded by the jungle, reminding us that communities need to be embraced by nature for human and environmental health in the “concrete jungle” of our cities. The mural is also a call to reverse biodiversity loss with its depiction of animals and plants from New York State and from around the world - extinct or endangered on one side and recovering on the other - highlighting the challenges and aspirations that come with ecosystem restoration efforts globally. Trees play a key role in climate change as urban forests are responsible for almost one-fifth of the country’s captured and stored carbon emissions. They are essential to the well-being of communities, as they clean air and can lower summer heat by several degrees in cities. This mural was created in partnership with @germanyinusa to accelerate awareness on climate change and on the essential role women play in tackling the issue. Looking forward to seeing you all at the official unveiling on Friday September 15 @ 5:30 PM, in front of the wall. 📍 Mural: 455 Eye Street, Washington, DC - crossing I street and 5th avenue Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face today. And, time is running out, as we already see devastating consequences all over the globe. We need everyone to get involved! Yet, too few women are participating in the climate conversation despite the evidence that women are disproportionately affected by climate change. This 135-feet high mural features a wise African-American “Mother Nature”, surrounded by an adult woman farmer planting a tree to support biodiversity in her community, and a girl watching an endangered bumblebee, approaching the flower she is holding to ensure its pollination. Looking forward to seeing you all to the official Inauguration this Friday July 28th @2:00 PM, in front of the wall. 📍Mural: Müllerstraße 174, 13353 Berlin, Germany. This mural marks the second year of implementation of the @unwomen #GenerationEquality action plan, which, amongst other things, calls for the promotion of women’s economic empowerment and their recognition in the care economy. It showcases a middle-aged nurse confidently crossing her arms over her chest. Serving as the backbone of her community and supporting women from all ages and ethnicities, she embodies strength and resilience. On her left shoulder, her daughters gaze towards the future, driven by ambition and prepared for upcoming challenges. The mural symbolizes the invaluable contributions of care workers and the significance of intergenerational solidarity in advancing gender equality.
