True or false: The more chocolate the better? That is true true true for me! I am a huge chocolate lover and when given the choice between chocolate and vanilla I will go chocolate 99% of the time. And that is why @andys.stlouis @andysfrozencustard Triple Chocolate Concrete is perfect for me. It’s got a chocolate frozen custard base with cookie dough chunks and melted chocolate chips swirled in (honestly their melted choc chips are my fave). I’ve been craving some ice cream and frozen custard recently but we are on day 21 of Whole30! The final stretch until I will enjoy some sweet treats like this again (in moderation… maybe 😉). Happy Friday! Are you brunching this weekend? If you need a place with delicious brunch food and drinks, look no further than @yellowbellystl! I went for brunch awhile ago and everything was fantastic, from the drinks (bottomless mimosas and tepache mimosas!) to the breakfast sandwich. One of the stars of the meal to me were these cheddar biscuits that come with plantain butter and strawberry-jalapeño jam. They were the perfect mix of soft and crunchy, salty and sweet, and made for a great appetizer to the meal. Every drink had a fun twist to it, whether it was served in a mini pool float, came with instructions on how to drink it, or had the server dressed up in a costume to deliver it. What’s your favorite frozen custard spot?? We are fortunate to live near both Andy’s and Mr. Wizard’s! We love taking Bruce on walks through our neighborhood to go grab some frozen custard. I had a few people suggest Mr. Wizard’s to me and I’ve slowly been working my way through their menu of mix-ins and concretes. This creation is called The Wizard and has strawberries, hot fudge, and chewy fudgy brownie chunks mixed in to their creamy vanilla custard base. This is how I like my noods 😍 LuLu Seafood & Dim Sum on Olive has been a go-to spot of ours for dim sum and Chinese eats because it was a spot Tyler loved to come to back when he was in college. I got the Duck Noodle Soup last time and really enjoyed it. I love that crispy duck skin and there was a good amount of noodles and bok choy in the bowl too! Now that we’re on Whole30 I am craving a big bowl of noodles like this, but I’ll get back and enjoy it again one day! Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! Which mooncake are you trying first?? @corner17 so graciously gave me a box of mooncakes to celebrate this year. The box was beautiful and the mooncakes were so tasty! They made four flavors: chocolate, egg yolk, taro, and matcha. They had a nice gooey lava center and every flavor really stood out. My favorite was probably the taro! If you’ve been following me for awhile you know how important my Asian and Chinese American identities are to me. Everywhere I go, I try to find some form of AAPI community and that is often done through food. This photo doesn’t even do justice to how big this falafel sandwich was 😳 Tyler and I went to @jspitaria last week and agreed that it was hands down some of the best food we’ve had in St. Louis so far. Every dish we tried was absolutely incredible and the portions were massive. All of the food is made fresh, including the somun bread (a Bosnian bread sort of similar to pita). This sandwich was made on that bread, with super flavorful falafel, veggies, and tzatziki sauce. If you’re in the mood for Mediterranean food, go here ASAP! Josi and Zamir pour so much love into the food they make and it showed throughout every bite. Does anyone else love digging into a tamale!? @thetamaleman serves up some fresh tamales in different flavors and I would highly recommend checking them out! I found them awhile back at the Sunday @tgfarmersmarket at @theboulevardstlouis. Fun fact: tamales were the star of our annual Christmas party my family threw every year growing up. My mom had a favorite local tamale person that we would order a ton from for our celebration with friends and family. These tamales definitely reminded me of the ones from back home in California! Also, today marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month!! The month runs until October 15th and is a time to honor the history and contributions of Hispanic and Latino/a/x folks in our country.
