To the end of the world and beyond with you ☾. That said… I recently realized that I’m not the “around the world trip” kinda person. To be honest, it sounds exhausting to me. What I long for is living somewhere tropical, having breakfast at that little cafe everyone goes to, spent our days at the beach, surfing the waves with some friends, a little road trip to another small cafe for lunch, followed by some bbq in the evening. And just really be a part of a community of like-minded people. Not packing your bag again every few nights, adjusting to a new routine, and sleeping in a new bed. At least not for months on end. Here we drive through the Yala National Park and there we have seen several elephants 😍 In Sri Lanka live almost 6000 elephants and that also in complete freedom. Its a dream to see them like this 😍 This elephant here deliberately blocks the road, as many give it bananas and that's what the elephant uses to claim here, like claiming "tolls for passing this road. The glorious Nine Arch Bridge between Ella and Demodara train stations is one of the engineering marvels in the early 20th century. This bridge, which is almost 100 years old, has been built with blocks of stone and cement without any strengthening iron or concrete. The giant arches take the bridge on a curved path to link to mountains. The Bridge was commissioned in 1921 under the British Government. There is a story behind it that you would love to hear. The World War One broke out and the steel consignment allocated for this site was seized and was used for war related projects. MUST SEE🏜🇱🇰 (eng↓) Det trak op til uvejr, så vi hastede hurtigt op ad Pidurangala Rock. Fra toppen nød vi udsigten over junglen og ikke mindst Lion’s Rock, der tordner sig op midt i det grønne landskab 🏜 Men kun i få minutter. Himlen blev mørkere og mørkere, for hvert sekund, der gik, så vi skyndte os ned igen 🌧⚡️ Forinden forestillede vi os ellers en halv-romantisk stund på toppen til solnedgangen, som @landgreve og jeg oplevede her sidste år 😅 Men vejret kan vi ikke styre - og denne gang blev det derfor en anderledes men stadig smuk oplevelse 🌪 Uanset hvad, så er både Pidurangala Rock og Lion’s Rock efter min mening “must sees”, hvis du besøger Sri Lanka. De ligger et stykke væk fra de mest populære turistområder, men er virkelig køreturen værd 🙏 🇬🇧Rain was coming in, and we hurried up Pidurangala Rock. From the top we enjoyed the view of the green jungle and not least Lion’s Rock 🏜 But only for a few minutes. The skies got darker and darker, for every second that passed, so we hurried down again 🌧⚡️ Before we arrived we imagined a romantic moment at the top for the sunset, which @landgreve and I experienced here last year 😅 But we can’t control the weather - and this time it was therefore a different but still beautiful experience 🌪 Either way, in my opinion, both Pidurangala Rock and Lion’s Rock are “must sees” if you visit Sri Lanka.
