“I thought it would be interesting to look at some complex ragas and melodic framework, and … present them in a way that still contains the essence and the mood of the ragas but with an arrangement and musical overlook that is relevant to myself personally and my other musical interests.” – says Giuliano Modarelli about Lost Ragas. Modarelli is joined by Joost Hendrickx, Dwayne Kilvington and Chris Williams in this unique composition that seeks to uncover the secret history of traditional ragas that have been forgotten over time with a fresh new twist – by incorporating diverse musical influences like electronic, dub, and jazz. Ragas are a fundamental concept in Indian classical music, particularly in the traditions of Hindustani music (North Indian) and Carnatic music (South Indian).
