Peek-a-boo! We might think we’re out there spotting leopards but at the end of the day, they decide when they want to be spotted. Unlike in the Serengeti where the vegetation is less dense, game drives in South Africa and Zimbabwe feature two sets of eyes, a field guide and an expert tracker. Many trackers grow up in close proximity to nature – whether on farms, or looking after animals – and a lifelong love of nature is deeply entrenched. Some come to this profession in other ways, perhaps learning to appreciate it later. All trackers however, offer unparalleled knowledge into the bush – the tiny, often hard to see details that allow them to find and follow game, locate birds (or young leopards hiding in trees) and open the window on how life unfolds over a day in the wilderness. #OurSingita
