NEW TO STRENGTH TRAINING?? ✨ Bodyweight Basics: Hip Hinge✨ PERFECT FOR BEGINNERS! Learning to hip hinge is an integral step to learning more advanced posterior chain (the back of your body) exercises, like the deadlift or Romanian deadlift (RDL). Here I’ve used a wall to practice the drill of hinging at the hips while keeping a straight back I hope you give it a try and let me know what you think! KEY POINTS: ✨keep your hands on your thighs and your chin tucked; these will both help you keep that neutral back ✨start fairly close to the wall, then step away gradually as you get the hang of the movement ✨push your butt back to tap the wall gently ✨press your feet into the floor for a solid foundation ✨ideally you want to brace your core, but we’ll cover that another day if you’re not familiar with the concept. ✨DUMBBELL DEMOS: 1-Arm Shoulder Press✨ Pressing is a fundamental movement everyone should be incorporating into their strength training program. Here I’m doing a 1-arm version, that requires more core engagement since the weight is uneven. This is one of my favorite vertical pressing variations! 👉 what are some of your faves?? Key points: ✨maintain a 45 degree angle with your arm ✨brace your core as if someone is going to punch you in the stomach ✨keep your non working arm out for balance ✨CONTROL the entire movement ✨don’t overextend your shoulder as the end of the range to get the dumbbell higher; think about bringing your bicep to your face so you avoid shrugging your shoulder ✨remember to switch arms! 3x8-10 reps/side is a great range to shoot for!
