“Proper Parmo”… Deep fried, panko breaded chicken breast topped with our signature béchamel sauce and melted cheese blend, served with skin on fries, homemade slaw and garlic mayo! As a native Teessider living away, I couldn’t get a parmo anywhere… you know the struggle, no bech, tomato sauce etc etc. so instead of constantly being fed up and let down, I decided to do it myself and show the geordies what a “Proper Parmo” was and so @parmorama was born 🐔🧀🙌🏻 Over 4 years later we’re still spreading the Teesside magic everywhere we go!

This Sunday marks the last day of the HWKRMKT at @bytheriverbrewco 🥺 When I first started Parm-O-Rama back in 2018 it was a goal of mine to get into By The River Brewery, seeing so many amazing streetfood traders I looked up to there. To my amazement, it was only 6months after I started out we were offered a permanent residency!!! Fast forward 4 years and I’d like to think we not only shown the geordies what a proper parmo is, but we’ve firmly put Parm-O-Rama on the map! Firstly I’d like to thank Dave and Rob for the opportunity and for supporting local independents like myself. Thanks to all the management and staff at By the river brewery over the years. And of course to all of our staff past and present who graft week after week with the same enthusiasm for Parmos as myself! Not only has it been a great place to work and showcase our food, it’s been an amazing experience and such a wonderful community amongst the other traders, many whom I can call my good friends. Last but no means least… thanks to you! Without our loyal customers we wouldn’t be here. We’ve been through a global pandemic, a cost of living crisis and some god damn awful weather! But week after week you come down in your droves for your Parmo fix (or to lose your parmo virginity). This isn’t the end, just the closure of a chapter. Our Parmo Wagon will still be here there and everywhere and we’re working hard behind the scenes to keep the parmo dream alive! Thanks for the memories and see you all again soon Jonny 🫶🏻

I had the salt and pepper parmo and my partner had the Cluck Norris burger. So the news is out… unfortunately due to works on the Tyne Bridge, our beloved home from home in the HWKRMKT at By The River Brew Co will be closing on October 1st 🥺 I just want to thank each and everyone of you for your support over the last 4 years. This place holds a special place my heart having helped me make my dream a reality of spreading the Parmo love and help us put Parm-O-Rama on the map! I don’t know what to say except I’m gutted, it’s been such an amazing community down there amongst the streetfood traders, staff and our regulars! Thanks for the memories!
