missyduckwife Mia is out of surgery and is beginning her recovery in ICU. The doctor said it went perfectly! I broke the news to her over dinner last night that she is not exactly the nicest person during the first few hours of recovery and to please remember that I’m just trying to help 😬. We laughed, she apologized in advance and pled ignorance. She was forgiven in advance! Jase told his regular “dad jokes” that neither one of us think are funny, so we were all missing @belkyskarina99 (our Nicaraguan daughter as Jase calls her) who laughs at ALL of them, even when she doesn’t understand them 😂. What a wonderful time together we had after stepping out of a shocking and horrendous cloud of tragedy and before walking into an all-too-familiar cloud of calamity, physical pain and long recovery. Last night’s dinner was a nugget of sweet sunshine that fell over us and gave us a bit of respite. A nugget of gratitude! Today starts a new semester at @lipscombuniversity. This unexpected surgery forced Mia to make different plans. We were praying this surgery would be scheduled in time for her to heal before going back to college and were disappointed when we were given the date. However, we are GRATEFUL that Lipscomb helped her transfer to online classes to stay up-to-date through her recovery process. Last night, we realized how perfect God’s timing actually is. If she had surgery before today, we would not have been able to walk alongside @brightontrobertson and her family in their time of desperate need. @miarobertson1 is still a part of her Lipscomb community. It’s just going to look a bit different for a few weeks. Sometimes, what looks like a personal disappointment may just be one way God has chosen to use you to further His Kingdom. What incredible blessings Lipscomb and her friends are in her life! What an incredible thing family is! What an incredible God we serve! I Chronicles 16:10-11 “Honor him, because his name is holy. Let the hearts of those who trust in the Lord be glad. Look to the Lord and to his strength. Always look to him.”

missyduckwife's post........... Sometimes it seems life is just throwing punches one after the other and you don’t know if you can take another one. But God! Over the last few months our family has been faced with some overwhelming obstacles and a very recent tragic event in our sweet Brighton’s family. These are the kinds of things that if only one of them happened in a lifetime, it might be more than some could bear at all. But that’s where God steps in. In the beginning of each of these journeys, I haven’t been able to see a path. I just trust. In the middle of these journeys, I may see a glimmer, but then the road begins to widen and God’s people start to join us, one by one, jumping in and literally being the hands and feet of Jesus. See, He has more than 2 hands and 2 feet. He has hundreds in every situation! They are filled with His Holy Spirit, our Comforter and Counselor. Even their encouraging texts when there are no words to bring any comfort; just texting “I love you and am praying for you” help lift our spirits in ways we may never be able to respond to in kind. Tomorrow @miarobertson1 will have surgery #15. It is major. She’s had this surgery twice before, and because of some unseen complications from the last one, it has to be done again. Please pray for it to be successful, for the skilled hands of Dr Law and for that oh-so-important anesthesia cocktail that will make or break her immediate recovery. We are so so blessed to be only 4 1/2 hours away from one of the most skilled surgeons in this industry and one of the kindest men we’ve ever met. We have every confidence in the International craniofacial institute and thank God that He lead us to them 20 years ago! If you’re going through a life-changing event that you don’t know if you can recover from, know that you can with God and His people. And spend some time counting the blessings in your life. Little nuggets of gratitude will help you turn your focus onto just how good our God is! 7 days of gratitude! I challenge you to join me, and I’m posting this so you can challenge me. Khloe is the heart of our family! With 3 older siblings she has always been loved and a little spoiled by all of us! She is so fun, full of joy, peaceful and kind. She is the winner of all the fun games we play together and is motivated to be the best she can be at school. I was a counselor at Camp Ch-Yo-Ca this summer for eight weeks and loved every second of it! I am so thankful for the Lord's work in me and all the kids who came to camp this summer! Also, this month I am just soaking in these last few weeks of summer with spending time with friends and family! I am just feeling so thankful for all the people in my life. Chase is our family comedian, he loves making people laugh. He loves basketball and Minecraft, and he is a wonderful brother to his 3 siblings. He is so brave, an inspiration to us. He’s independent, really smart, and I’ve always said that he acts like a grown man in a child’s body. His next surgery is scheduled for August 4, definitely covet your prayers over him for that.
