The team were being recognised for their powerful stand against racism and for showing their solidarity with @vinijr. Laureus Sport for Good 🤝 Tatler XFEST Laureus has today been announced as Charity Partner of Tatler XFEST, a celebration of the best of Hong Kong through city-wide events and experiences around @intermiamicf’s inaugural tour to Asia next month. The partnership will see beneficiaries from Laureus’ Model City Hong Kong programme participating in football clinics ahead of the landmark Inter Miami CF v Hong Kong Team match at the iconic Hong Kong Stadium. #SportForGood

“The man we are honouring tonight is a true football giant.” At the 2007 Laureus World Sports Awards, Franz Beckenbauer received the Laureus Lifetime Achievement Award. Fellow Academy Member Sir Bobby Charlton and Johan Cruyff presented Franz with his Award and spoke warmly about ‘The Kaiser’, a man they respected greatly.

Everyone at Laureus is saddened to hear of the death of Academy Member Franz Beckenbauer. A true icon of the game, he won the FIFA World Cup as captain and then as coach, and will be remembered for playing football with style and grace. As a member of the Laureus World Sports Academy, Franz supported the work of Laureus Sport for Good around the world and in his native Germany. He’ll be greatly missed.
