#repost @jiggyboyfilms This gigantic hole in the ground, known as a crater, is one of many that are dispersed around the Great Rift Valley. They are a result of ancient volcanoes imploding (collapsing inward). In the back, we see the only active volcano in Tanzania, Ol Doinyo Lengai, which is the mountain of God for the Maasai people. I have been to this location 6 times already because these are the kind of places I find authentic stories to make films about - but more than that it’s because I feel the need for adventure deep inside of me. A need to discover remote wilderness. To be so far away from civilization. This is where it feels so right to me - everything comes into proportion and all the interconnections between everything become clear. The illusion of separateness and human superiority over the natural world fade away. I feel my eyes and heart opened to something greater than myself. What do you feel when you are in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the sheer force of nature around you?
