The Okama is a crater lake with a circumference of 1,000m and a depth of 27m. It is also known as “Goshikinuma” (lake of five colors) for the changes in the colors of the water surface from the intensity of light. Okama is a popular sightseeing spot near the Zao mountain range. With a height of 1841 meters, Mount Zao is one of the most prominent mountains in the Tohoku Region, sitting on the border between Yamagata and Miyagi Prefectures. The active volcano features a beautiful crater with lake, known as Okama (御釜) due to its resemblance with a traditional cooking pot. The crater cannot be approached but viewed from a distance outside of winter. A spectacular road, the Zao Echo Line, leads to close to one of Mount Zao's secondary peaks, called Kattadake (1758 meters), before descending the mountain on the other side into Miyagi Prefecture. From Kattadake, tourists can view the Okama Crater without much effort, and there is also a shrine, visitor center and restaurant. It is also possible to hike from Kattadake to Zao's highest peak in about 45 minutes, from where it takes an additional 45 minutes to reach the upper station of the Zao Ropeway which descends to Zao Onsen.

Shirakawa is a village located in Ōno District, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. It is best known for being the site of Shirakawa-gō, a small, traditional village showcasing a building style known as gasshō-zukuri. Together with Gokayama in Nanto, Toyama, it is one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites. The Shirakawa-go (白川郷, Shirakawagō) and neighboring Gokayama (五箇山) regions line the Shogawa River Valley in the remote mountains that span from Gifu to Toyama Prefectures. They are famous for their traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses, some of which are more than 250 years old. Gassho-zukuri means "constructed like hands in prayer", as the farmhouses' steep thatched roofs resemble the hands of Buddhist monks pressed together in prayer. The architectural style developed over many generations and is designed to withstand the large amounts of heavy snow that falls in the region during winter. The roofs, made without nails, provided a large attic space used for cultivating silkworms.

Bentenjima Fireworks Festival, Hamamatsu city, Laka Hama, Shizuoka 🇯🇵 Usually on the first weekend of July, It is one of the biggest and best firework festivals in central Japan. Bentenjima is a large island in Lake Hama, a few stops away from Hamamatsu. It holds one of the bigger, free, firework festivals in the area, usually on the first weekend of July (This one is heavily advertised so look out for it). If you arrive via Bentenjima station you will be directed where to go as the area is very small. The area is known for its many onsen and is a beautiful area to visit any time of the year. Situated on lake Hamana, this area is famous for the torii in the centre of the lake which makes a focal point for the fireworks festival. This festival gets very crowded so your best bet is to come early, and bring a blanket and cooler full of beer and food. Find a spot on the lakeside with a good view of the torii and get comfy (and perhaps tipsy). From mid-afternoon, stalls are set up where you can enjoy Japanese festival food which includes yakisoba, oknomiyaki, gyoza and various other treats. An interesting activity is to people-watch and see all the locals in their beautiful summer kimonos (which if you head to the yukata festival in Hamamatsu earlier in the day, you can pick one up for yourself!). 📸: @toshi_a_photography #静岡県観光協会 #shizuoka #shizuokaprefecture #shizuoka_photo_share #shizuokacity #shizuoka_photo_club #shizuokajapan #shizuoka_landscape #fireworks #fireworkshow #fireworks2022 #fireworksjapan #japanfireworks #japanfireworksfestival #festivalseason #festival #Festival2022 #festivallife #festivalvibes #beach #beachlife #beachvibes #beachday #beachparty #beachgirl #beachtime #beachbum #beachbabe #travel #travelphotography

Eiheiji (永平寺) is a large temple complex and active monastery standing on a cedar-covered slope in the mountains just outside Fukui City. The temple was founded in 1244 by Dogen, the Buddhist scholar who introduced Soto Zen from China to Japan in 1228. Eiheiji is one of two head temples of the Soto Sect of Zen Buddhism (the other was formerly Sojiji Temple on the Noto Peninsula before its head functions were transferred to Yokohama). The sizable temple complex consists of over 70 buildings and structures which are connected to each other by covered walkways that protect from the heavy snow seen in the region from December to March. The warmer months bring lush vegetation to the temple grounds, which are especially beautiful from late October to early November when the autumn colors typically peak. 📸: source tumbler, creator unknown please dm for credits #fukui #fukuiprefecture #fukuijapan #fukuitravel #fukuicity #eiheiji #eiheijitemple #eiheiji_town #eiheiji_temple #eiheijitemplejapan #永平寺 #永平寺町 #forrest #japan #travel #traveltheworld #travelphotography #travelblogger #travelgram #traveladdict #travelingram #traveller #travelblog #beautiful #beautifuldestinations #powerspot #powerspots #powerspots_in_japan

Udo Shrine (鵜戸神宮, Udo Jingū), located on the Nichinan Coast south of Miyazaki City, is dedicated to Yamasachihiko, the father of Emperor Jimmu, the mythical first emperor of Japan. This brightly painted shrine is set in a cave on the side of a cliff overlooking the ocean and so enjoys a spectacular view. There are a few legends concerning Emperor Jimmu and this cave, although it is unclear whether he was born here or visited here as a baby. However, the one thing the stories have in common are the breast shaped rocks in the cave wall which are said to have nourished him. Drinking the water that drips from these rocks is thought to be beneficial for pregnancy, childbirth, nursing and women hoping to have a child. The shrine is also thought to be fortunate for couples and newlyweds. Outside the cave is a terrace overlooking the ocean. Among the rocks below is a target marked by rope into which people try to throw small ceramic undama, or lucky balls (available at the shrine for a small fee). Women throw with their right hand while men throw with their left, and landing an undama in the target brings good luck. 📸: @@a.k.i__camera #tokyo_pref #japan #travel #photography #鵜戸神宮 #miyazaki #miyazaki_colors #miyazaki #miyazakicity #miyazaki_jp #miyazaki_city #izumimiyazaki #鵜戸神宮で運玉投げた #鵜戸神宮 #ocean #océan #OceanLife #oceanlife #oceanview

Not only a tearoom but also traditional style of a room in Japan basically has tatami mats on the floor. Why tatami ? The material of tatami is igusa, which helps adjust the humidity and temperature in the room. Tatami is very suitable for the climate of Japan since there are four seasons, summer is very hot and humid and winter is very cold and dry. https://mai-ko.com/culture/tea-ceremony/ #kimono #kimonorental #teaceremony #teahouse #greentea #kyototrip #meditation #japanesecultur #purification #matcha #visitjapan #japanesesweets #sadou #culture #travel #japan_daytime_view #japantrip #smell #slurp #japantravel #kyototravel #sterilization #unticorona #kyoto #maiko #seasons #photospot #photo
