Probably heretical adding broad beans to a carbonara let alone making it with fusilli, one of the few shapes that are not mentioned as an alternative to spaghetti in @rachelaliceroddy’s wonderful A-Z of pasta but I’m putting broad beans in everything I can while they’re in season and it worked. Negroni sbagliatos to kick off a long overdue first visit to @littlehollowspasta in Bristol last night - the perfect place to eat on a warm summer evening. Lovely food too including this dish of tagliolini with skate and vermouth and cream sauce, agretti with brown shrimp and a Megrim sole with piquillo pepper sauce as a starter. Thanks to @jofairley (whose account is well worth following) I caught sight of this brilliant campaign to encourage us to use our indies - or lose them for sure. Bristol has so many great ones I don’t get to enough but I do shop at @regthe_veg every week and @heronbooksbristol more than I probably should cos it’s such a lovely bookshop. @northstreetcheeseshop too. Times are hard but if we all make them at least part of our weekly spend they’ll survive. Their future is in our hands. Seafood is taken super-seriously in this part of Spain. There are 3 different flavours of crab meat in the shell explained Javi Izurieta of @pazosenorans - the body meat (the sweetest), the leg meat (the most savoury) and the brown meat - the deepest in flavour.
