It is casual Cantonese restaurant boasting modern interpretations of the usual Cantonese classics. You can expect some of the dishes from Kai Duck to be a little more experimental and creative like their - Peking Duck Salad Hand Roll which features Peking duck wrapped in crispy spring roll paper and drizzled with Japanese sesame sauce and seaweed flakes. I liked the texture of the fried spring roll paper and the juicy duck did make an excellent companion the light and crunchy spring roll. As the name of the restaurant suggests, the main focus of Kai Duck is undoubtedly their duck. And they use Irish duck or better known as the wagyu of duck for their dishes. The entire space can be easily spotted from far, an entire green wall totally surrounded by potted plants and climbers just like a mini forest. With lots of greenery around the cafe, dining was a very soothing and relaxing experience. Very attentive service crew and food service was fast ! We enjoyed our mains and drinks very much; ingredients were very fresh and it was very healthy yet tasteful meal. The Kroffle desert was perfect! Prices slightly on the high side for a quick lunch. @fonseeconstruct Flowers have always been part of any decor. Some like colours and sizeable arrangements, others may prefer simple arrangements to complement their setting. Today I went to a Floral Extravaganza because my cousin was in the floral design competition. And a friend’s arrangement was on display! And for today’s activities, they were focusing on the art of Ikebana arrangements. I have not much patience for such floral arrangements but many on display were very impressive and they look like exquisite artwork! What is Ikebana? 🍃 Ikebana is the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement. Flowers, plants, leaves and branches are chosen according to the season to represent a theme or to establish the decor of a room. The Ikebana Principles:🍃 * Less is more: They go for structure, space, and minimalism. * Asymmetrical balance: It’s common to see tall branches balanced precariously in ikebana. I love the view, the brightness and cleanliness, food is quite tasty and prices reasonable. The set I had came with a refreshing salad, salmon with a perfectly done skin and rich brownie with ice cream. Cost per set was at an inexpensive $25 ish for a weekday lunch. And today is at a modern Chinese dim sum place in a very quaint Black & White bungalow setting -Legendary Hong Kong at Rochester Commons. Run by professional chefs from Hong Kong, they aim to provide an authentic dining experience with its offerings of four categories of food: Roasted Duck and Meat, Noodle & Congee, Dim Sum, and Bing Sut (Hong Kong cafe style food and drinks). The restaurant is spread to two levels, with some al fresco and balcony dining areas. There are some traditional Hong Kong elements and décor that I liked, that felt like I was transported over to the city.

Connoisseurs or simply those who adore Chinese cuisine can enjoy the many excellent chinese restaurants here in Singapore! But when you think Chinese restaurant- we are no longer looking at loud red and gold decor. And definitely not garish bright lighting and maroon velvet drapes and dragon motifs. With many modern chinese cuisine, the restaurants also come with designs that are equally polished with refined Art Deco-inspired interiors. Many of these ‘modern’ chinese restaurants exude a casual, relaxed vibe, thanks to its contemporary styling. Often inviting and vibrant. Their aesthetic may plush, elegant and tranquil. And often combine use of stones, metals, woods with traditional oriental artwork embellished with florals, details accented with florals and dainty sparrow motifs.

My other passion - Culinary pleasures. And today was at Hortus, a Mediterranean restaurant housed within the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay. Access to the Flower Dome is complimentary and buggy rides from the entrance to the restaurant are also provided for patrons of Hortus. So just getting there very fun and refreshing! I enjoyed the Flower Dome and we took a scenic stroll among the flowers on display. The coolness of the air conditioning made the ‘walk-in-the-park’ so comfortable! 🥰🌳🌻🌲🍄🌿🌹 The food was light but flavourful. Designed to invoke freshness, most plates are prepped simply – with bright spices and fruity olive oil, and cooked over woodfire.
