Today the Church celebrates the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Early in the fourth century, Saint Helena, mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine, went to Jerusalem in search of the holy places of Christ’s life. She razed the second-century Temple of Aphrodite, which tradition held was built over the Savior’s tomb, and her son built the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher on that spot. During the excavation, workers found three crosses. Legend has it that the one on which Jesus died was identified when its touch healed a dying woman. The cross immediately became an object of veneration. [We] celebrate the Exaltation of the Holy Cross on the September anniversary of the basilica’s dedication. (Via Franciscan Media)

Thank you to all who came out to hear from our speaker Rafael Portuondo, who is known as one of today's top designers of classical architecture in America. Ralph’s timeless Old World European designs make him a sought after speaker at the nation’s top architectural institutions. He shared many words of wisdom with us: ⛪️ The Catholic Church isn’t perfect, because man isn’t perfect…but God is perfect. 🌟Friends are the people who’ll push you to be a better person. 📢 This [talk] is bigger than how to be Catholic at work: How do you want to live your life as Catholics everywhere, not just in the workplace? ➡️ My challenge to you: how are you going to be as a parent? Will you a humble, patient teacher to your family? ➡️ Ask yourself: How am I going to lead my friends and how am I going to lead my family? ➡️ We need to look (live, act) like Catholics. A Catholic is called to be different. As Catholics, we need to have a voice in what we do. It’s better to get thrown of work than to give in to the culture. We have to be bold. We can’t be afraid. ⭐️ Because you care, you’ll make a difference. You’ll stand out among your friends and family, and they’ll notice.
