2 Years sober from alcohol Were words I definitely never thought I’d ever hear myself say. Social media only highlights the good and flashy in life when, in reality, every single one of us is going through something. Yes.. Even you.. Well, I was definitely going through it. I used alcohol to cope with my stress & anxiety, how I celebrated wins in life … All my insecurities…Which is not fucking healthy.. I could see it affecting everything and yet it was just so easy to hit a bar after work or lunch for that matter. It’s wild how normalized drinking is once you go through addiction. Not judging anyone who drinks at all. I just know it’s not for me because I can’t handle it.. I can’t drink anymore or it will all come falling down. No shame admitting that at all. The only way to get through this shit is to admit you have a problem and try to do something about it. Whether Cold Turkey or AA. No shame in anything y’all. 730 days ago, I knew I had a baby on the way and a wife that needed me in so many ways that I wasn’t supporting. I made the decision to kick booze once and for all that day. One day at a time. I counted..Every single day. You have no idea how much of a win that was. You never know when life is gonna throw a hanging curve at you. One you just straight whiff at... Today is just another daily victory but I’m god damn proud to have hit two years. I’m serious. If I can do this, you can too. Life is beautiful and I want to feel all it has to offer. Good and bad..I’m here for support if you’re going through something. There are also so many outlets for help. But YOU have to want to get better and do it yourself first. Sorry for the novel, I just wanted to share my story with anyone who may be struggling. I’m nowhere near perfect and have failed soooo much. Ya gotta work super fucking hard for anything you get in life and even then you might fail. Social media doesn’t show ya that.. Use this app for good this year. Check in on your friends and family. Be raw about life and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
