#Take5 for Food Access with us as we address 5 common myths about accessing food assistance programs. 👆 At Boulder County Farmers Markets, we believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, locally-grown foods. We work closely with @bouldercountypublichealth, @letsnourishco, and other community partners to expand access to local food at the markets and beyond. Enrolling in benefits such as SNAP or WIC can help your family save money on grocery costs and devote more resources to other basic necessities. If you’re interested in learning more about our Food Access programs, visit the Market Info Booth at the farmers market. We’re looking forward to a beautiful market day with y’all this weekend! Come visit us at 13th & Canyon in Boulder and the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont to enjoy local food and support our farmers. 🌱 #Take5forLocal

Can you believe we only have three Wednesday markets left this season? 😳 While it certainly feels like summer flew by, much of our favorite summer produce is sticking around for at least a little bit longer. Winter squash, gourds, and pumpkins are beginning to make their way to the market booths to confirm that the seasons are indeed changing, but the for time being, you get to enjoy the best of both seasons at the farmers markets this week. We hope to see you in Downtown Boulder tonight from 4:00 to 7:30PM. We'll have live music by @derekdamesohlmuzak, beer from @sanitasbrewing, and Tai Chi from 6:30-7:30PM. Come support local food and farms tonight!

🗣️ CALLING ALL PEACH ENTHUSIASTS 🗣️ Now is the time to stock up before these juicy beauties are gone for the season! You know what they say: all good things must come to an end. Even great things come to an end, like peach season. 😢 With maybe a week or two left with peaches on trees, it's time to pencil in a market date to grab a bag to snack on or a box to preserve. The availability will depend on the farmer, so be sure to ask when they expect to have their last peaches of the year. Swing by the Boulder Farmers Market tonight to get your fruit fix! We'll have beer from Primitive Brewing, live music with Thomas Gronberg, and donation-based Tai Chi from Rocky Mountain Tai Chi. Plus, our friends from Community Fruit Rescue will be pressing apple cider at the market! Come on down and join in on the fun. 😊 📸 Eliza Earle

Highlights from our visit to fruit country. 🍑✨ We are beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to visit four of our fruit vendors: @ranchodurazno, @mortonsorganicorchards, @elafamilyfarms, and @firstfruitsorganicfarm this past week to see their operations in person and learn about the challenges they face. Colorado is lucky to have an abundant fruit harvest this year, but even in these prime conditions farmers lost rows of cherry trees, watched perfectly-ripe peaches get damaged by summer rainstorms, and shared their crops with hungry bugs and critters who have no concept of profit margins. 😬 Fruit is a high-risk business, and farmers depend on customer support at the farmers market to continue to do their incredible work all year round. Plus, when you shop at the farmers market, you get to enjoy fruit that was picked just two days before it made it to your market tote, while fruit from the grocery store is typically picked two weeks before you have the chance to eat it. It’s the peak of freshness and flavor that simply cannot be beat. We hope to see you at the Boulder and Longmont Farmers Markets this Saturday to enjoy the height of fruit season — with apples, peaches, plums, and pears all in season! 🍐Plus, our artisan market will be taking place at the Boulder Farmers Market and will feature 20+ local artisans and handmade goods. We hope to see you there! 👋

Plums have entered the chat 💬 These tiny, juicy fruits are great for baking, making jams, or just enjoying as a small snack. Visit the Boulder Farmers Market tonight to add these lil stone fruits to your midweek market haul. 😊 Here’s what else to expect tonight: 🌅 Our market will begin closing at 7:30PM to accommodate the shorter days. Plan accordingly! 🍺 @thegravitybrewing will be providing beer for our beer garden. ⛰️ Rocky Mountain Tai Chi will host a donation-based Tai Chi class from 6:30-7:30PM in the park. 🧑‍🍳 @escoffierschools will be hosting a cooking demo featuring fresh market ingredients. See you at the market tonight!

✨ Tomato Girl Summer, but keep it local ✨ Tomatoes are having having their moment this summer. They are forging new fashion trends, inspiring furniture design, and spawning spontaneous trips to the Italian seaside in search of la dolce vita. We're here for all of it — but if you can't quite squeeze in a trip to the Mediterranean, perhaps a visit to the farmers market will do. We've got the juiciest locally-grown tomatoes from our farmers ready for you to enjoy. Grab an enticing heirloom for salted tomato sandwiches, make a sauce out of ripe cluster tomatoes that would make you nonna proud, and savor the seasonal delicacy of fresh field tomatoes while they last. 🍅 What's your favorite way to enjoy fresh tomatoes? Let us know in the comments. 👇

Oh sorry, did you think farmers markets just happen on their own? 😅 It’s actually a common misconception! We have a whole team that works all year-round to make our markets in Boulder and Longmont the best they can possibly be. 🥕 Our Boulder Farmers Market Manager, Liz, is here to show you all of the work that goes into prepping for market day. There are parts of our jobs that are less-than-glamorous, but catching the first sunrise and seeing bustling crowds ready to support our local farmers, ranchers, and food producers makes it all worth it! 🥰 We hope to see you at the markets today to celebrate #NationalFarmersMarketWeek. We are so grateful for all of our customers and vendors who show up for us throughout the season — we couldn’t do it without you! 🧡 #OurJobIsWeird #FarmersMarketWeek

Join us at the Boulder Farmers Market tonight to sample fruit from our vendors, seek out stone fruit products throughout the market (like @bestoneyetvegan’s peach milkshakes), and screen print your own tote bag at the @bmoca tent. Find us at 13th & Canyon today from 4:00 to 8:00PM and join us in celebrating National Farmers Market Week! 🎉

We were honored to have @govofco join us at the Boulder Farmers Market on Saturday to officially kick off Farmers Market Week! 🎉 #NationalFarmersMarketWeek is a time to celebrate the markets across Colorado and the entire United States that help connect local farmers, ranchers, and food producers to customers in their community. 🌱🐮 Each purchase at our markets does more than just put something perfectly ripe and delicious on your plate. What started with a few farmers selling produce out of the backs of their trucks has now expanded into two vibrant farmers markets in Boulder and Longmont, with a year-round online market and food access programs providing healthy food for hundreds of families in Boulder County. 🧡 As a nonprofit, our organization digs into the year-round work of advocating for our farmers, local agriculture, and equitable food access so that the benefits of local food can create a better future for our communities and their local food systems for generations to come. We can’t wait to celebrate Farmers Market Week with you this week — stay tuned to learn how we’re marking the occasion! 🎊
