Meet the facilitators of our Natural Pigment Workshop - Giordi and Giulia! If you’ve visited Bilston in the past year, there is a very good chance that you have already met Giulia and Giordi. But what you may not have known, is the extent of their artistic talents and experience. We wanted to take a moment and introduce you to more of their background and who you will be learning alongside at our Natural Pigment Workshops this month. Originally from Northern Italy, Giulia and Giordano grew up immersed in the hillsides of the Dolomites and have always connected with the beauty of nature. They studied Art & Design at renowned Italian universities and have travelled the world building their desire to bridge the structure of art with nature. During this workshop, these two beautiful souls will guide you step by step through the process of creating your own pigments from nature. You will be introduced to the history of pigments and their application in making art; discuss the methodology of pigment classification; and will learn how to prepare paints using the pigments with natural binders. There is no limit on the number of tickets we are selling at this price - unless the entire event sells out - but after Sunday September 10th, the price will increase to the regular ticket holder price. We are excited to see that a quarter of the seats have already been filled just from our initial announcement. Market vendors, we are still accepting applications! While the first of our Yuletide Markets series for 2023 is a little over 2 months away, our events team has been working on this annual pop-up shop for months already! We have received over 130 applications and have filled most spaces for each market. In order to provide a diversity in product offerings to shoppers, we limit the number of vendor types per category per market. If we wanted to run 6 weeks of bath, skincare, and candle markets, we could (and we would be surrounded by incredible, local talent). So we wanted to let you know, the application form will be open for a little bit longer. We would love to see some unique offerings and even a few more vendors that create holiday themed products. If the category you fall under is currently waitlist only, please know that we do keep your application on file. Things happen in life and there are last minute vendor cancellations. Goodbye summer holidays and good luck to everyone as they transition themselves or their children for back-to-school. We have already felt the change of the seasons begin here, even if there are technically a few more weeks to summer. Our lavender has all been harvested and last week we began the collection of our apples and pears. The trees are teeming with fruit and we will have a huge bounty to share with you this year! With the transition of everyone’s schedules and some big farm tasks, we are also transitioning the schedule of the days we are open to the public. As of this week, we will now be open three days a week: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hours will remain the same for now, 11am to 5pm. Running a business that is reliant on the weather and Mother Nature means that we cannot always 100% guarantee what each year will be like at the farm. In June we announced the Lavender Bloom Season and that it would run until September 3rd. As everyone is well aware, this season has been hot, dry, and to be honest, a little worrying of what will come in future for our climate. Due to the elements, our bloom season has officially wrapped up. The team will be harvesting the final lavender plants this week. The remaining lavender has transitioned from bright and fresh to dry and purple-grey and last week we made the decision to cease the entrance fees for bloom season. We remain open this week, Wednesday through Sunday. We will still be running lavender distillation demonstrations and farm talks. We will also have live music on Saturday with @annabiglandpritchard and @0h.elle. And of course our highly anticipated pizza pop-up with @glenrosafarm on Sunday! You are welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy the complimentary lawn games around the orchard. There is still much to do! After Labour Day, we will transition immediately into apple season (we are already harvesting them!) and the farm will move to a three day a week schedule.
