@bellaramsey knew expectations for #TheLastOfUs were high—and that its success would largely hinge on its core duo, Ellie and Joel (played by @pascalispunk). The series isn’t afraid to take detours, unearthing layers of horror and hope along the way, but Joel and Ellie are the heart of the show. The pair's official first meeting happened during a lunch break on set. Pascal had already been shooting for several weeks, while Ramsey had just arrived in Calgary and was fresh from the makeup chair. “We just took each other in,” Ramsey recalls. “Like: ‘Right, this is it. It’s me and you for the rest of the year.’ Even before we’d fully bonded, that was still very much there—that feeling of: We have each other’s backs.” Ramsey describes the first few months of working alongside their costar: “If he was doubting himself, I so wanted to make sure that he felt like he was valid in his feelings. I wouldn’t offer any alternative perspective, because I just wanted to make sure I was a safe space for him to feel things.” Tap the link in bio to read our full cover story.

@hannah_waddingham, a longtime staple of London’s West End, has quite a few pieces of audition advice up her sleeve. "I would say, only read [the sides] through once. I put it on a voice app because I have to—it’s the same as I do when I’m learning scenes that we’re going to shoot. I have to hear it as music in my head. I have to hear the reasoning of each character," she told us in an interview. But a particular trick is what landed her #TedLasso: "I don’t ever make sure that I’m completely off-book. I stick it up on the wall behind the camera—like, really crudely. I cut out the script bit, get all the rest of the paper out of the way so that my eyeline’s not budging here and there...you could easily sit there the whole time trying to cram your brain with being word-perfect and off the script. I would rather spend one day learning it and two days just hearing it in the room, and just have the script there behind the camera as a backup." Despite their distinct training backgrounds and character construction techniques, #Bridgerton stars @nicolacoughlan and @phoebedynevor agree on plenty when it comes to acting. It’s a fickle business, for one, and no matter where actors are in their career trajectory, they can count on two qualities persisting: fear and self-doubt. “You have that fear where you go, I don’t think I know how to act anymore, I don’t remember anything!” Coughlan says in our podcast interview. “You make up all these things in your head, I think it’s just like this defeatist voice...You just have to tell it to shut off. It’s so unhelpful, it’s so stupid.” “It doesn’t go away,” adds Dynevor. But reflecting on her periodic dry spells as a working actor, she says it’s usually just as you’re ready to give up that the industry presents the perfect opportunity. “When you’re on the cusp of throwing in the towel, something will yo-yo you back in!” Head to the link in bio to revisit our full podcast interview with the two stars of the mega-hit series.
