If your only motivation to workout is weightloss, I'm afraid you're missing out on the immeasurable mind-body benefits of exercise. I regularly walk outdoors in nature and let me tell you, the mental and spiritual benefits far outweigh any physical change to my body. What's your why? #afrogirlfitness
'For the first time in a long time, my body is exactly where it should be' #readcaption . Via: @healthyeverydayliving_ "On the left, I almost can’t recognise myself. I feel sorry for her, the pain her mind and body went through. She thought that everything had to be perfect, especially food. She put in days effort just to make sure she was eating what she deemed the ‘perfect diet’ and to make sure she spend hours on end moving around and exercising. She just saw this as normal, thinking that was what everyone does. But her mind was distorted. Her definition of perfection was shaped by the dark side of diet culture and by the monster in her mind. All that mattered was perfection. At the end of every day she would evaluate her day. Was it perfect? Was my eating habits uniform? Did I exercise for x amount of hours? Is my body skinny enough? And if the answer was no, she would blame herself. On the right is a brand new person nonetheless. She doesn’t strive for perfection anymore, because being perfect is impossible. And the definition of perfect itself is so subjective, meaning something different in everyone’s own mind. Instead, she focuses on healing her relationship with food. Taking her medications without worrying about the fear of weight gain. She knows mistakes are inevitable and instead of blaming herself for them, uses them to improve on herself. She is now more present in the moment with family and friends. She knows that enjoyment, fun and living itself comes from the imperfect aspects of and moments in life. That's right, body size doesn't represent overall health. #readcaption Via: @enk.fit "You never looked big, Nneka..you dont need to workout" People used to tell me that I never looked big. I was hiding most of the weight. I was 216 lbs (picture on left), vs. (188 lbs on the right). I wasnt eating healthy. I neglected myself by falling off from where I used to be. . I may have not looked big but I sure was out of breath many times just from walking up a flight of stairs. So I would take the elevator even to the second floor of a building at Rowan. . My clothes werent fitting. They were getting tight. My knees actually started hurting at one point because of my weight. I couldnt stand for long without getting tired. . So, you can be small and still be out of shape or you can be big and still healthy depending on many factors. So take initiative and do the best you can for your health. . You know your body more than anyone else. It's not about looking big or looking small, it's about being healthy overall . #transformation #weightloss #igbo #weight #transformationtuesday #afrogirlfitness #fitnessmodel #gymmotivation

Period pain relief naturally @mussbefitt Okay… I received quite a few messages about my last PMS and Period relief post, and the discussions in the comments made me super happy that people are getting more comfortable to talk about these topics. There are many things we could do to improve our experience with PMS/PMDD/Menstrual cramps… However I am an advocate of making sure you’re good from the inside first. This is why you’d always see me promoting foods/herbs/vitamins/supplements etc to get the body feeling amazing internally. My PMS has taken it up a notch since I put the coil in late last year, and I could scream. I’ve noticed an increase in moodiness, low energy, a bit of sadness, and joint sensitivity. So I’ve had to find some more ways to be gentle with myself, not comparing my journey to others’. Here are some great iron rich foods you can add to your diet throughout the month, and specifically during TOTM: 🔆 Spinach 🔆 Parsley 🔆 Cumin 🔆 Swiss Chard 🔆 Asparagus 🔆 Collard greens 🔆 Turmeric 🔆 Bok Choy Squeeze some fresh lemon, lime or orange juice onto any of these after steaming or preparing, and your body will thank you. WHAT’S YOUR BEST HACK FOR PMS?? HELP THE GWORLS OUT!!! 😩👑👇🏽 . SHARE with a friend👩🏻🤝👨🏿
Did you know 10 minutes of jump rope is equivalent to 30 minutes of jogging? . A complicated workout plan doesn't necessarily equal progress. It is possible to repeat an easy routine without compromising progress. . If you're new to fitness or wanting to lose weight, know that you don't need sweaty, hard exercise sessions to gain the benefits of physical activity. . It's a good idea to change up parts of your workout every couple of weeks (as opposed to daily) as your body adapts to the routine, in order to continue to reap the benefits and keep seeing results. . To sum it up, you can lose weight with easy workouts. The key is consistency. Long term consistency trumps short term intensity . #newweeksamegoals #afrogirlfitness
