Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Yoel Septianto @haiyoel

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a still-life photographer from Jakarta. Currently studying Advertising Design.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post coffee things and portraits on instagram, but my topic of interest is making community from photography.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

the word “Hai” in Indonesia means “hi”, “hello”, that means people should use this words more instead of calling people directly using their name, without saying “hello” at first.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Snapseed, and now I’m using Adobe Lightroom more often. I sometimes make filters (or presets) but I more likely to explore new types of edits!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@boylagi, in Indonesia he is “Papa Instameet” or “Instameet’s Father”, he isn’t only capture people or things, he also held many community gatherings and Instameets so people get connected.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

try explore new things, take different perspectives!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I can explore new things and make people feel like they’re doing what they love and what they like the most.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Let the influencers express their talents, while promoting brands. Don’t force them to make something really new or extreme that they couldn’t do it. They will feel depressed and uncomfortable with it.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Put watermarks, or do something regularly on purpose. Make your own style and techniques.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I can get more new connections and know more about people. What they need, what they want.
