Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Yazmin Aldwin Abdul Aziz @yazmiinaziz

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m currently a secondary school student who is passionate about music. I’ve been participating in various talent competitions and have gained a few recognitions in singing. I’ve also done several opening acts as well as duet with both Malaysian and Filipino artists.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My posts are about what happens in my everyday life as a teen: singing, fashion, my pet dog, what I eat, the artists I meet and the places I visit.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I tried registering my first and last name combined but it wasn’t successful. Instead, it’s my first name and last name with an additional letter i. Yazmin Aziz is the name I go by on stage.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Most photos are just the usual Instagram filters. I also sometimes use Camera360 and PhotoGrid.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love Bretman Rock! His videos are hilarious. It is also nice to see his make up techniques and tips.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

To be true to themselves. I noticed some who are shy to post who they truly are (hide their face, etc). Based on my experience, when I showcased my true self, more appreciated me.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

The fact that I inspire others, especially teenagers. Many of which would greet me on the streets or sends me DMs or comments. Apart from this, I also like how I become a source of information for events, etc. There are also some who inspires me on what songs to perform based on requests, etc. I also love how I get invitation to perform for events, thanks to my IG page.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Word of mouth is key. I think it is important to get real people to try their brands and those who are already users to be advocates of the brand. The more feedback you gain, the more the brand can improve itself and be the best to serve its current and prospect customers.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I would say to choose what you post in the sense of taking effort to ensure all your postings are “likeable”. Use captions which are positive and encouraging. Sometimes I also add some suspense and humour which will then raise curiosity and increase interactions through comments, etc.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It’ll be a great way for people to know more about what the brands does, without hard selling it to the public. It also gives me the opportunity to deepen my knowledge about the brand and of course be an advocate of the brand which will give valuable content to my followers.
