Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Yam Lauar @yamlauar

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Yam Lauar, 21 years, fashion design student and model. I’m from Belo Horizonte, Brazil and currently working at Mega Model BH.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Fashion is a passion and is present in all aspects of my life, and through photography I can express a little bit of who I am. Instagram is my favorite app, and that’s why I like to share my life on it, specially my work as a model, designer and aspiring photographer.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My full name is Yam Nick Lauar Cruz, and my agency decided to use just Yam Lauar, cause it’s more remarkable.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

My favorite apps to edit the photos are Snapseed, Glitché and PhotoGrid. I think less is more when it comes to editing, except when I create a design with the photo, something artistic, usually that’s when I use Glitché and PhotoGrid. Snapseed is the basis to me, every picture can be improved with some knowledge and experience on the app.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

All the pictures from people I follow really inspire me, specially the streetstyle photographers and of course the models, my favorites are probably @luckybsmith and @iblamejordan.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

When it comes to photography I got one decisive key, which improves instantly a photo, good lightning. So I usually give a 360 twirl before taking any picture to find the best light, changes the whole thing.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Being able to share my point of view and my work to people who appreciate it, and hopely inspire them to be better in some way.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

The main tip is get to know your public, search about their preferences and specially what they like to see from you and around social media. But do it without trying too much is really important to maintain authenticity, you should do this research to learn how to comunicate well with them, but you need to love your work as much as they do, so be honest to yourself.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

The pictures you post and what you write about them, should touch people in some way when they see it. So keep honest to your own style and don’t ever post something you’re not sure it’s good, when the picture has quality you feel like sharing it immediately, so follow your own instincts.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The best thing about partnering with brands is to show my point of view about it, and when you do that with the ones you really like, the connection is natural and you are able to inspire people.
