Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Troy Akin @troyakin

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am athlete born in northern california, where I moved to so as to pursue my dream of being an actor. My dream would be to play an actor who is a sports star.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Being active and social are two of my favorite things. Instagram has allowed me to share my joy of playing with my friends and family.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I really like my name so I stuck with it.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Most of my pictures are taken on nice cameras. I don’t like to edit my pictures too much because I want them to be real as possible.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I follow a lot of athletes and a couple inspirational accounts. I check my instagram when I wake up and usually when I go to sleep so I like to be motivated instantaneously .

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I know its not an app, but waking up early. I have been waking up at 6am for the past couple of months and I have never been so productive until now.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part about being an influencer is being able to be a role model and set good examples. I have the ability to help someone grow and learn. I want them to be the best they can be and if I can help in anyway it means a lot.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Being relatable is the most important thing. That’s why so many of these influencers are hugely successful because they really relate with their audience. I maintain my authenticity but continuing to be me. There are a lot of external voices trying to change you, but I still love my sports and working out as much as I love the other stuff.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I have seen it first hand the difference of posting high quality photos and bad iPhone photos. The difference in likes is almost double. Original content is great but it is truly a skill to keep thinking of original content these days.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like working with other companies as it gives me new inspirations for original ideas. They also help shape ideas too. 2 brains are better than 1.
