Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Yanna Tengco @yannatengco

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am from Manila, Philippines. I am currently exploring the concrete jungle that is New York City by myself before I go back to working as a registered nurse in the Philippines.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I post a lot of my food adventures, the books that I’ve read, and places I visit. I like to consider my instagram page as my public journal where I document the stuff I’ve been doing with my life.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I didn’t really have much thought about my instagram name, I just wanted it to be simple and just one look people would know it’s me. I guess you could say I wanted my name to be the face of my photos.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I usually use Snapseed to edit the quality of the photo, like I would use it to increase the brightness and adjust the contrast and what not. Then I would go over to VSCO to add filters. And I use Instagram’s photo editor for the finishing touches.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I think the Instagrammer that inspired me the most is Camie Juan. Her genre of posts are a lot similar to mine, like she would post food, books, and her travels. I aspire to be like her one day.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Just breathe and live. Be welcome to new adventures. Don’t let fear make your decisions for you. Now’s the era to be bold and different because life is short and the world is such a beautiful place.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part about being an influencer is that I get to share my experiences to many people and that they could explore those places I’ve explored.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

You think of a good caption that would intrigue your consumer and make it yours. A really good photo is a top priority for good advertisement so you have to highlight the important features of the product and show the consumers what they want to see in a product.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I would usually just go out and take pictures of the stuff I see and experience and take it from an angle that would complement the whole purpose of the photo. Just go out there and immerse yourself in photography. Take 100 shots of a certain subject and you’ll learn a lot from it.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like trying new things and collaborating with brands would help me explore more products and then I get to share them to my followers so they could learn more about a certain product.
