Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Tori O’Connor @torioconnormua

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am currently working as a freelance makeup artist/beautician/nail technician in Omagh, County Tyrone in Northern Ireland.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My main interest is makeup, which is what I most frequently post about on Instagram. I also love eyebrow transformations and different nail extension designs.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I wanted my Instagram name to be as close to my name as possible, but still seeming professional. So I added ‘mua’ to the end of my own name to let people know what I post about and what I love.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I love using ‘Afterlight’ and ‘VSCO Cam’ to edit my photos. I like to add more colour and definition as well as adding a few shadows to soften the photo slightly.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@Jamiegenevieve, @Staceymariemua and @Plouise_makeup_academy are some of my favourite Instragram profiles. I love all their work and they give me lots of imdpirstion for my own work as I would take tips from their makeups and make it my own.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I believe everyone should try Bperfect Cosmetics fake tan which smells like coconut, is the perfect dark shade and doesn’t dry out your skin as I find most tans do.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love being an influencer as I love inspiring people to try something new or just be themselves. I love seeing people taking inspiration from my looks and putting their own creative spin on it.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

In my opinion you should only ever promote something you truly believe in, that is the only way to remain authentic to your followers as they will blame you for encouraging them to waste money on something that doesn’t work, and they will feel let down by you. I believe honesty is the best policy.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I feel that quality is very important as a sharp picture always looks better than a blurry picture. Being able to see details in the picture is what makes it great. Original content is always a must as plagiarism is wrong and why bother doing something that’s already been done? I would rather take inspiration from something and do it my way instead of someone else’s way.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like partnering with brands as it’s lovely to watch them grow and progress and feel like you’re part of their success.
