Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Pnina Tornai @pninatornai

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Pnina Tornai and I am a world-renown bridal and eveningwear designer and star of TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress.” Although I always dreamed of being an actress and have starred on multiple shows in my country, I realized that my calling was to design bridal gowns when I had a dream they were falling from the sky and I could see every detail so vividly! I use the finest fabrics, Swarovski crystals, and hand-beaded appliques to design my gowns and search all over the world for unique laces. Once a month I travel to NYC for my trunk show at the Pnina Tornai Boutique at Kleinfeld Bridal and help hundreds of brides say yes to the dress!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My interests include bridal fashion, event design, eveningwear, style, and travel. My Instagram mostly features my designs and the real brides who wear them. I also love to inspire my brides by posting wedding decor, bouquets, travel photos, and my own style tips as well. And I can’t forget my dog, Patchouli! She’s quite the character.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My Instagram name, @pninatornai, is my name and the name of my brand. I like to keep it simple and recognizable.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I don’t like to edit my photos too much since I like to keep it real, but I do like to adjust the brightness and lighting of the photo if it needs it. My favorite filters are on VSCO and I also like to use Snapseed to edit the sharpness of the photo and to crop my photos as well. I do use Facetune sometimes to lighten the exposure, smooth wrinkles on a blouse or gown, and highlight any details that may not show as much in a photo as they do in real life. When I’m in a rush and want to take a selfie, I try to get as much natural light as possible, it makes everything look ten times better!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really love @bridal_vogue because she posts awesome wedding inspiration, as well as @whitelilacinc because their decor is always so luxurious! Song of Style is also one of my favorite instagrammers. She posts the perfect style inspiration! I can’t say there is an Instagrammer who inspires me the most. I’m like a sponge and enjoy looking at a variety of accounts. I do like to look at my team’s individual Instagram accounts, they keep me in a Millennial mindset!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I absolutely love the slideshow feature! It’s amazing for showing the front and back of a gown in one post without making a collage or for posting multiple outfit detail pictures. I think it’s also great for travel because you can showcase a few different shots at once and create a story.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favorite part about being an influencer is inspiring all of my fans! Reading their kind messages makes my heart so full. I’m so happy when a bride tags me in her photos and I get to feel like I was at her wedding. It’s one thing to see a sample on one of my brides, but when it’s her gown and she’s glowing with happiness on her big day, it’s even better! I also love when my fans tell me that I inspired them to pursue design, chase their dreams, be more confident, etc. If I can help people while doing what I love, I feel so fulfilled. It inspires me to create even more. I’m also enjoying showing my fans a sneek peak of my Pnina Tornai Evening Wear Collection. They are so excited and love seeing some color on my page.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

My top tip is to keep it real! We are all self-conscious sometimes, but in a world where everything is so edited, I think that people are really starting to appreciate a sense of authenticity. I’m funny, I make mistakes, I don’t always use the right words, but hey, that’s me! I want my fans to like me and my content for what it is, so I try not to stress if something isn’t 100% flawless. Stay true to yourself, don’t compare yourself to anyone else, and be the best you that you can be, both on social media and in your every day life as well. Nothing makes me happier than when my fans message me and thank me for being so real. No one should be afraid to be who they truly are.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Original content is always the way to go! While I do like to call attention to trends, I also try to make them my own with a little bit of a twist to keep it fresh and keep my followers engaged. I love posting my real brides because it’s original content that no one else has and it’s truly inspiring! I also enjoy posting my look of the day since my followers often wonder what a designer wears to work every day. Another tip is to try to post ultra-high resolution photos (since we can zoom on Instagram now!) And if I’m ever on the fence about a photo, I don’t post it. I want my followers to love what I post as much as I do.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love the sense of creativity and seeing other people’s perspectives. It inspires me and opens doors to places I maybe never thought of or considered. I also love to see people talk about what they love and are passionate about. It reminds me of my own passion and reignites that fire!
