Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Salomon @stylemomentum

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Salomon, I’m 16 years old and I’m from Burkina Faso. I currently live in Ghana where I’m now attending my final year as a senior until I go to university in the UK. I’m focusing on school but I have plenty of other things that I am capable of doing that I have unfortunately less time for this year, things like dancing, singing, songwriting, designing, and photography.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My two topics of interest are graphic design and fashion, respectively. Despite my lack of time, I manage to organize myself to complete some photoshoots and edit the pictures afterwards. I publish fashion posts on my Instagram occasionally advertising my other social networks.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My username stylemomentum is a reflection of my account and myself. Style, for the content you will see on my feed. Momentum, for a description of myself. I call myself momentum because all the different activities that I enjoy doing flow well with my lifestyle, personality, and style. Most of the things I do are art related so I have the ability to fluidly switch between these activities without disrupting the last in any kind of way.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

– 2 iPhones
– Tripod
– Macbook Pro

I made some sort of contraption with my iPhone 5s and a tripod that I bought. My phone is held up on the pod by some thick black rubber band that I found in the kitchen. I then go outside and take the pictures by connecting my 2 iPhones using Camera Plus (a free mobile app) and using one phone as a remote. When I finish the photoshoot I transfer the pictures to my laptop and I edit them with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

The Instagrammer I like the most is thereallialove, beautiful woman with a beautiful thought behind the posts. Lia told her followers on Snapchat how to gain confidence but that there is a fine line between that and arrogance.

Now the one who inspires me the most is iam_dytto. Dytto is one of the best female dancers out there and what really impressed me is how long she had been doing what she loved and took initiative and elevated her career to a whole new level.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I definitely recommend using Iconosquare. It’s a website that shows you all the analytics of your Instagram account. It will tell you what posts got the most likes, what hashtags you used on those posts and what filter. It will also show you averages of the likes or comments you get per post, a graph of your statistics over time and way more.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

It’s something that I enjoy doing. But unlike all the other activities that I like doing, it’s rewarding. Being an influencer, a role model, can give good insight to other people every post you make. And if you are someone taking pictures of your different outfits and posting them on your feed then use that to send a message. I am currently working with a zoo and making zoo-related designs to sell them and raise money to buy supplies for the zoo, and I can complete a photoshoot of myself wearing those designs in different ways and post it online while still advocating for the cause.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Advertise to your audience and choose that audience well. Choose people that you know will benefit you for a long period of time. Have the same names for every social media account you make. When you announce winners for something have proof shown to your audience that the winners did indeed receive their prize.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Be outside of the box. People don’t like change but they won’t say the same after it. We’re all scared to venture into the unknown but it’s for the better, be different.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnering with people in general helps me discover new things about a topic that I ignored previously. But partnering with brands does that and will also project it onto a lot more people. Some people here in Accra, Ghana don’t know that there is a zoo here or others will think that is is just a simple zoo. By partnering with the Accra Zoo, I found out more about it and our partnership will let more people know that the zoo actually preserves animals that are endangered in the country and confiscates the ones that were illegally being used as pets.
