Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Sophie Kautz @queenbobbypin

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a photographer based in Tacoma, Washington specializing in street and clothing brand lookbooks. I also shoot portraits as well as events such as art shows and music shows.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My topics of interest are photography and writing. I post a lot of my work and projects I am currently working on.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

People always comment that I am so tall and skinny that I resemble a bobbypin because I look like a stick. Bobbypins are extremely useful and always come in handy in all situations so I believe it as a compliment!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use vsco when I am on the go. If I have a lot of time or am working for a client, I use Adobe photoshop. My routine is to listen to a Schoolboy Q album and begin the editing process. I work with the lighting and contrasting effects the most. A little lighting can go a long way!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really admire Zoe Rain’s photographs because she is doing what I would like to peruse in the future. She creates these photos that make you feel emotions and you feel like you went to the show. It’s amazing how she does that.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I am an ambassador for this new app called VYRL which is set up just like tinder and you can meet other artists and collaborate with people that are close to your area.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love the fact that so many people are learning more about the art of photography and that you can create so much when you are with a camera and a person with you.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I believe it is all in the promotion. I maintain authenticity by branding myself and setting myself on a different path than everyone. I try to create new ideas constantly.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Original content may seem risky in the moment but in the end, it sets you a part from other people and you earn more quality recognition for it.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love connecting and talking with people about their brands and where and how they started. Marketing and learning are very interesting to me.
