Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: OLGA PANCENKO @OLGA_PANCENKO

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I have quite a particular history. I was born in a small town in Ukraine and my parents moved to Riga, Latvia when I was 3 years old, this is where I grew up. I left to Paris, France to study when I was 19 years old and lived there for 6 years. I then moved to London for a job and lived there for a few years. Right now I am based in Los Angeles, California but I keep traveling for work and leisure all the time.
Right now I am a COO of a French Luxury House called PERRIN PARIS. The company has a rich history and specializes in very unique leather handbags, gloves and small leather goods. In parallel, I have my fashion/lifestyle blog called FALIFŌ where I share my passion for fashion, travels and much more.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am interested in so many things but some of my interests do not make for a good photo material… 🙂
My Instagram is focused on fashion and travel mostly, which probably does not sound too special, but I am trying to take a slightly different approach and photograph outside of the box!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It is just my first and last name, I decided to be quite straight forward 🙂

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I am not a fan of heavy editing – a beautiful image is 90% dependent on the right light and background. For a little bit of editing that my team does, we often use Lightroom and Afterlight.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

@margaret_zhang is my absolute favorite – her photography skills are beyond inspiring. I also love and follow @manrepeller, don’t we all follow this account? Honestly, always a great laugh and Leandra is outstanding.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

#liketiknowit!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Discovering new brands that I wouldn’t have discovered otherwise and working with creative people that are shaping the digital future.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think that brands have to be very selective about influencers they work with, more followers does not mean more engagement, and sometimes influencers with fewer very engaged followers can bring better results in terms of awareness and sales. I also think that brands should not be too specific about the content when they work with influencers, especially if this content is not for the purpose of posting on brand’s own Instagram. Brands should define their objectives clearly, and if the objective is to reach the audience of a given influencer and have the best impact possible, the influencer has to be allowed to be creative in what she/he does. Otherwise brand just ends up with a bunch of similar looking unnatural creatives.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Today Instagram is flooded with images that all look the same. This is because not all influencers have a unique creative slide, many are just trying to replicate what others do. I would say the situation in the advertising industry (which I know quite well) is similar. That is why something truly unique and outside of the box comes with a higher price tag. But there is a market for everyone. I think the key is to find your style that speaks to your followers and stick to it.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The discovery of something new – there are so many brands out there, even being in a fashion industry I am sure I don’t know even 10% of what’s out there. It is lovely to get emails from brands who are excited about the content I produce and build long-term relationships. Also, every little project feels so new and fresh – its like changing jobs on a weekly basis 🙂
