Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Monica @ismonia

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a student artist from Melbourne, Australia. My work is primarily abstract forms with bold colour and detailed line. Mostly I work with traditional media, such as pen, markers and watercolour, but recently I’ve been experimenting with digital media.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am interested in art and design, and that is primarily what I post about. I am consistently posting my latest artworks and crafts, as my Instagram has become a portfolio of sorts to showcase my abilities.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

‘Ismonia’ is a mix of my name, Monica, and was adopted from my regular username used for various social media sites and gaming. The name has just stuck with me and now it’s used to label my ‘brand’ of sorts.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I sometimes use the layout app and Photoshop, but mostly I will use a filter from Instagram.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I have a few Instagrammers I admire, but one of my favourites is ‘graceneutral’ and her tattoo/design Instagram. I adore her style and unique look.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

If you create your own designs and want to bring them to life, Redbubble is something I’d recommend trying. You can upload your art onto things like pillows, phone/laptop cases, mugs, and other things.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Trying new products and offering recommendations to my followers.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I think subtlety is key. Make the campaign look least like an advertisement as possible, this is how authenticity would be maintained.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Posting content is one thing, but it’s another to keep creating new content in reality. It’s best to focus on creating more work in reality than creating work specifically for posting, that way you’ll never run out of ideas for posts and keep improving your practice.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Again, it would be trying new products and recommending them to followers.
