1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
Hey, I’m Nkisu! I’m 19 years old from the ‘Land down under’ (Australia) and currently studying at university doing a bachelor’s in Biomedical Science.I love all things to do with reading and so nearly two years ago I made an Instagram account focusing on all things bookish! As well as reading, i love to bake, watch movies and explore new places!
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I have three Instagram accounts (a bit much, isn’t it?). My most popular account would be my book account, followed by my personal and then my newly created food Instagram account! I love posting photos of books, food, fashion and the world around me!
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
I love books, so I needed my name to be related to books in some format since that’s the theme of my account! I decided on “book_after_book” since I’m literally reading book after book!
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I usually do most of my editing in VSCO. I stick with one filter (which is C1), adjust the vibrancy of the filter and then play around with the saturation and contrast. I’ll usually bump up the contrast by 1 and will usually change the temperature to be slightly warmer! Once I’m happy with that, i’ll upload the photo into Facetune. Facetune is an app I mainly use on my personal Instagram as I take a lot of photos with white backgrounds. I’ll usually whiten the background of my photos to make the other colours stand out.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
Some really wonderful instagrammers in the book community are Hikari from Foldedpagesdistillery, Nani from booksthetics, Amber from midnightburrito and Linh from Woodlandspirits! Not only are they great people, but they take some of the most breathtaking photos I’ve ever seen! They all definitely inspire me!
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
The Studio app! A great app for creating overlays and adding cool text to photos.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
Being able to communicate with people from all over the world and all different walks of life!
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Be passionate and enthusiastic about the brand you are running a campaign for! People are more likely to respond to a brand that sounds passionate about what they have to offer. I maintain authenticity by trying to be as real as possible. if I don’t like something, I won’t lie about it and heavily endorse it. I don’t think it’s helpful to tell others to go and try or purchase something if you yourself don’t actually believe in it!
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
It’s great to get inspiration from other people, but don’t be a carbon copy! Instagram would be such a boring place if everyone was posting the same photos! Find a style that suits you and run with it! Always remember the importance of good lighting and don’t stress about having the most high tech camera to take photos, you can do wonders with a simple smartphone camera, you just have to know how to use it!
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
It gives you the chance to try new and fresh products/items and then also be able to use your platform to help support these brands-especially those which are just starting up!
