1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
Hello my name is Mitch Purgason and I am a dancer, fashion blogger, entrepreneur, former college athlete, and watermelon enthusiast from Charlotte, North Carolina. I am currently Chief Sales Officer for a custom clothing company named Corner Tailors, and I write blogs and run our instagram as well!
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I love talking about fashion, food, sports, life, travel, design, and anything that revolves around entrepreneurship or business. I mainly post about fashion on instagram and I would definitely say that fashion is my favorite thing to post about.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
Simply put I love my sense of style and my name is Mitch. I intend to build a food blog, travel blog, and lifestyle blog that follows the same path in the future. (foodbymitch, travelbymitch, and lifebymitch)
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I love using Whitagram and faded. I like enhancing the natural looks to a photo because I don’t really like my photos to look filtered unless I am going for the old school or classic look. If I am wearing a black and white outfit and want to compound the contrast, I will turn that up a bit and turn down the brightness. I can get artistic with editing and believe I have a good eye, but I prefer to leave filters out of it for the most part.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I love following Travis White, DJ Hargrave, Davidson Frere, thedapperedgent, David Lezcano, ryanstylesnyc, thefilteredfit, and dapperedman. I don’t have a particularly “favorite” Instagrammer, I take different things from each person I like to follow and then I try to put my own personal spin on them, my own style if you will, style by mitch ;). (Sorry I had to)
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
In terms of clothing? Try my company, Corner Tailors, we sell high quality suits and shirts for a really competitive price. Anything you can think of we can do, its all bespoke with fabrics from Italy and enough customizations to sink a steam boat. In terms of food, you can’t ever go wrong with watermelons, so if you’re thirsty this summer drink some whatamelon water which was is actually more healthy for you than coconut water. In terms of a show, watch something other than Game of Thrones.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
I have become known as an expert in fashion so I get a lot of questions from my friends and followers on Instagram about what to wear and how to pair different separates together for cocktail parties. It’s a lot of fun because I help people build their confidence and become the best version of themselves.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
1. You maintain authenticity by not trying too hard. A good campaign should effortlessly attract people to it.
2. Think about who your target market is and the things that they particularly like or are attracted to.
3. Contact models that go along with your brand.
4. Tell a story. You have to make your idea stick.
5. Hook from the beginning. People will look at your campaign ad or campaign for maybe 3 seconds before they decide if they want to further look into it, you have to hook them from the get-go.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
You have to take high quality photographs or else people won’t take you seriously. In terms of originality I will refer back to the point I made earlier about telling a story. You wan’t all of your pictures to be pages and your Instagram the book. If one page in a book seems out of context then the book seems a little weird, same concept goes with photos and Instagram, make sure everything aligns.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
It’s a mutually beneficial relationship and I am all about commerce ;).
