Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Malin Eklund @zzeldathecat

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am 20 years old woman from Sweden. Currently I am working at ABB and still live at home. Partially with my mother and partially with my boyfriend and his mother. Zelda is their cat which I run instagram for. I have been there with her from the start and often take care of her. From the beginning we knew she was special – the hard part is catching her wicked personality in photos! She is a persian female, and though many persians are quite dull – calm and tired and reserved she is the opposite. So much energy and curiosity. She also love to cuddle (especially with feet) and she desires attention more than food. She will (almost) literally do anything for your attention.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

Instagram contains ofcourse only photos of Zelda. Both spontaneous photos and set ups. I try to vary the photos as much as possible – showing her sleepy and cuddly side as much as the pretty and crazy side. Her eyes and her fluff is very popular so I try to show that.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It is named after her name – Zelda. She is named after the princess in the game Legends of Zelda. I wanted a instagram name that would tell people what the instagram was about – a cat named Zelda.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I try to edit the photos as little as possible and I rarely use filters. I want the photos to be clear and true to the reality. Therefore I only use the edit features in instagram, such as enhancing the light, strenghtening the colors and removing any possible orange hue.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I am mostly inspired by smoothiethecat. Gorgeous photos and such a gorgeous cat!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Zelda love to chase and be chased by her humans, if your cat desire attention and doesn’t seem to like any of it toys – he or she may be like Zelda and want the humans to be involved in the play! If your cat follows you, try to start running after it and than turn around and see if the cat come back. Zelda love this and will lure in the corners.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love all the people I meet! There are so many great people, cats and other pets out there and I would never have met any of them without being an influencer. I love to share.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Be clear with what you want – both the work necessary, the result and the reward/payment. Instagram influencers like myself operate through the entire world and fans live in so many different countries, the more you can adapt to this the better. Be clear with what sort of influencer you are searching for. The most important for me is to make sure I can support this company and that I actually like it. I can not promote a company if I dont support it. Since I am running a pet account I can easily promote different types of company though – it is not necessary that the company is about pets.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Quality is what separates you from the millions of instagram accounts out there. Instagram communicates through photos g so you have to make sure that the photo days everything you want, reflects who you are and all your unique sides and doesn’t reflects the things you dont want. You want your photos to have a theme or it Will be to messy.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love The creativity it gives me. It makes you think and work a little harder and your goals become clearer. I love to be a part of promotion a good company that sometimes need the extra push. One exciting thing is to Follow up the process, how is it actually working out? Is there a better way to reach out? I also like to show and enhance special sides of the company. Especially when a brand supports animal rights.
