1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
I am a trained makeup artist and was recently signed as a commercial model. I was diagnosed with severe scoliosis at age ten and had six surgeries. I have titanium rods in me as well as having ribs removed. During the surgeries, I had to quit dancing and this has spurred me to get into fitness and to overcome my diagnosis.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
I post my journey…healthy recipes…my progress. I like to offer wisdom, motivation, humor and honesty. Sometimes I write poetry that I feel people can relate too.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
My nickname is Lauzie and I realised my page was lifestyle. So I put them together and figured it was catchy and memorable.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
I think with fitness people like honesty so I try not to over edit. Beauty plus is a great app for the face. Smoothing the skin, removing dark circles etc.
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
What inspires me are followers I see that take you on their journey. When you see the growth physically in photos. One account I love is digestive_detective. She gives great nutrition advice, sometimes Instagram accounts are not always accurate on facts concerning diet, so it’s nice to go to an account with great information.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Storing their vegetables correctly. People talk about recipes and not enough on the groceries themselves. Knowing how to store things, an example using kitchen paper with spinach will keep it fresh and last much longer.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
Being able to spark a change. I have suffered from low self esteem and insecurities for as long as I can remember. I also had severe acne. Going through that and coming out stronger, makes me want to play a part in inspiring someone else. I love being able to share and connect with people from all over the world. Recently I gave advice to someone in India and I thought that was fascinating.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
People are more aware than ever of information. There is a wealth of knowledge out there, so people want to know facts. Being specific is important. Also, changing from what people expect. An example, if you see someone that was already in shape before taking a product, you believe in the product less. But if you see someone improving and documenting that with the product, it’s far more believable.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Find your market. Don’t try to copy what every other person is doing or you will not stand out. Be honest, make sure the lighting is good (keep it bright and don’t rely completely on filter), and always ask yourself…is this photo relevant for my account. Do not post just for the sake of posting.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
It’s great when you genuinely believe in something and you get to share that. There are so many products out there, and it’s nice to have one that you love supporting you. It’s also adding another dimension to your account and potentially introducing someone that may not have noticed you.
