Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Kelly Huibregtse @asideofsweet

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a foodie and blogger based in San Francisco, California. On my blog and social media channels I share everything from original recipes to style to travel inspiration. We’re all busy, but my goal is to help my followers add a little something special to their every day existence.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I am obsessed with flatlays! I love arranging things, and every new flatlay is like a puzzle that needs to be solved. Most of my Instagram grid features overhead shots, with a bit of lifestyle sprinkled in.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I have a blog by the same name, which was inspired by the fact that I bake quite a bit, but that’s not all I do! It’s just a ‘side’ of sweet, with so much more making up the rest.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I use the curves function on the Color Story App to brighten my photos. Then I do the rest of the editing in the actual Instagram app. I find that it is the most precise on increasing saturation, making the photo temp a bit cooler and brightening it a bit further.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I really love CynEats for food porn, Sprinkles for Breakfast for beautiful baked goods, and Taline Gabriel for beautiful healthy food.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Get outside and have an adventure! Wake up early for a sunset or hike that new spot you’ve had on your list for ages. Winter will be here soon, so take advantage of Fall’s beauty.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

The community. I joke that I met most of my friends on the internet, but it’s true! We really get each other, and appreciate how hard we work, but how lucky we are at the same time.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I treat every collaboration individually and try to make my sponsored content even better than other content. I am a true professional and I take client needs and expectations very seriously. Due to the dozens of requests I get on a daily basis, I’m fortunate to be able to only taken on projects that I’m truly passionate about.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

There’s nothing more important to help set yourself apart!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

The best part is the emails after the project is done thanking me for exceeding their expectations and for driving traffic to their site or social channels.
