Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Karen @belandbray

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a full-time working mom (FTWM) in the sunny island of Singapore. The FTWM label is a tricky one because people judge me for spending long hours in the office to rush project deadlines and other work exigencies. But being a FTWM doesn’t mean I’m a Part-time mother or any lesser than any other mother!

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

As a corporate governance officer in an MNC, I write and type a lot. Thus out of work, my topics of interest revolve around my family and hope to maximise our family time on the weekends. As the CEO (Chief Entertainment Officer haha) of the family, I look out for fun and exciting activities for the children. We love the nature and outdoors, but also balance up with some home activities and crafts or chilling at our awesome children-friendly museums. Playing a lot also makes us hungry so we also feature the diverse variety of local and international food we love!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

It is made up of the short names of my children, Belinda and Braydan. I only started my account when my second child was born and as I mostly write in dedication of their siblings love, naming our account “belandbray” is probably the most apt thing for us to do!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Not too much editing done really! But we love a cute filter or two sometimes. So Snapseed is our favourite app to go to!

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I enjoy meeting fellow Instagrammers because every one of them have a different story to tell. All of them inspire me in their different way. Making friends with them also provide me with sanity to realisation that I’m not the only one when facing certain issues! Love this big friendly community!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Any new thing you haven’t yet tried!
Just. Do. It!
(Like, I just learnt Rollerski aka Skis-on-wheels because I wanted to show the kiddos that learning is lifelong and mommy can also pick up new skills even when I’m 4 or more times their age!)

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love to share new and interesting things so the most amazing thing about being able to share these is to be able to try them ourselves first!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Look for Instagrammers who are your niche target group and let your selected Instagrammers try first hand your products and services. Many times, quality services and products speak for themselves but you just need reviewers to put out their word for you as affirmation to your larger customer base. Authenticity usually comes naturally once users of your services and products testify to their quality.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Always be true and original.
The importance of origianal content cannot be emphasized any lesser!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It tickles my brain how to present the brands I work with. Especially for campaigns which give us a freer hand in deciding our content, they provide us a platform to challenge our creativity.
