Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Joanne Feehan @secondhelping

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a Melbourne girl in love with her city and believe that you get out of life what you put in – so I put a lot in. I’m lucky because both by day job and secondhelping allow me to play with words, pictures and food so I get to do what I am passionate about every day.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

A quick glance at my feed and this one is obvious – food and drink are what I post about the most. The content ranges from raw ingredients to home-crafted recipes, to favourite edible and consumable products and amazing dishes I’ve enjoyed whilst out and about.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I believe that everyone wants a little bit more – of the good stuff! So the name secondhelping was chosen to share with people things they might want more of.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

At last count I had roughly 20 photo editing apps! But my go to ones are VSCO and Photoshop fix. I try to take all my photos on natural light and slightly under exposed then adjust them using one or more of the apps to get them to fit my style.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I get inspired by different elements of quite a few instagrammers. @whitneylouise for her curation style, @zeboy for exceptional food photography, @gatherandfeast for the amazing food flatlays

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Using the Drafts function – great if you you want to save something for later and don’t use a scheduling tool or if you get interrupted half way through posting and want to avoid starting from scratch.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Connecting people with something I love that they may never have heard of and having them love it too. I have a lot of knowledge to share and it’s an excellent forum to do that.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Be clear and concise with your expectations of influencers you work with and respect the influencer’s personal style and ethos. Allow them to tell your brand story in their own voice – this will ensure they stay connected to their followers and everything will feel far more genuine. If you choose well they will do the job you need them to.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Content needs to be entertaining or informative to get traction – if content is repurposed too often then it dilutes the effect it has on those exposed to it, so original content is important for impact and diversity. Quality goes without saying – we are swamped with content every day so it needs to be good to stand out.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Lots of things! I like the inspiration for content that comes from working with a new brand. I’m also a big fan of sharing knowledge and really like the digital “word of mouth” role that is part of a brand partnership.
