Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jesse Manners @Fatherlikesons

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hey there,
My name is Jesse and I’m responsible for 2 little gremlins, Riley is 3 and Boston is just on 8 months. I love being a father, not so much the dirty nappies, sleepless nights, lack in social life, stained clothes, bankruptcy or slowly degrading mental capacity but all the other stuff like ……
I’m passionate about fathers being fully involved in their kids’ lives, mothers being recognised as the history changes that they are exploiting the stupidity of myself and my kids. I would never dare speak a bad word about my wife Nicole because She’s Maltese and I’m 98% sure she has contacts with the Mafia.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

My Instagram all comes back to parenting life. It’s amazing the amount of material you can write about once you’ve got kids. One of my key campaigns that I run is called Father Brag. Basically Anytime you do a post about the father of your child add in the hashtag #fatherbrag My aim with the hashtag is to increase the amount of stories that help to create positive role models for dads and daddies to be on social media. Get on it! Tag me so I can read it and repost if it really speaks to me. ?

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I was completely at a loss for what the hell to call myself when I looked at my son and thought geez you’re the spitting image of me …. Fatherlikesons was created ?? It’s also a great reminder for me that I have two little fellas looking up at me at all times for a role model and I need to be aware that my every action is being followed.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I envy other accounts that somehow have the commitment to stick to just one filter, I just don’t have that willpower ?
I tend to use VSCO for my pictures. It’s super easy to use, has great options to edit and was the first app I found on Google.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Mel from @Themodernmumma is an absolute champ. She’s been extremely supportive of me in my journey towards being an ‘Insta-dad’. If you’re looking for an amazing woman to follow on Instagram I recommend you look her up!!

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

You should definitely try the amazing feeling you receive when you give $$$ to someone you don’t know. My BSB and account number is …..
No look, I think something that we all need to be doing as ‘influencers’ is finding our circle. Gather a group of 5-6 other accounts that are doing what you’re doing and join forces to support one another, promote each other and be there for one another outside of the Instagram frames. You’ll be amazed at the benefits to your page and more importantly yourself!

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I love that I get to communicate with so many different people across the world. I have people write in to me each week looking for advice, leaving friendly encouragements or letting me know that what I’m doing is making a difference in their life. I find that incredibly humbling and honouring. To me, that’s the best part about being an influencer.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Never lose sight of your page’s theme and purpose. If you find a product that fits in with your aesthetics than go for it but don’t compromise simply because you get a couple of hundred dollars. Your followers deserve the best from you so don’t go putting your name to something that you yourself would never buy.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think that what’s more important is what you put on your page and how you interact with your followers. Stay clear from automated commenting services. I put up a post about this recently on my account. I’ve had numerous people use automated commenting services where they have left a generic comment like: “I love this” but my post was about how my poor newborn was in hospital and incredibly sick. It’s just not worth the risk. If you want genuine engagement from others than you need to give it back to them. Take time to read posts in your feed and don’t just throw out meaningless likes for the sake of it.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love knowing that I’m assisting (in a small way) a company that has personally assisted me in someway with their product in the past. I’m very sentimental and caring so opportunities like this genuinely mean a lot to me. When I take on a campaign it’s for a genuine reason and I love knowing that in a way I’m becoming part of their community.
