Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Jan Vu @honza_vu

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

My name is Jan Vu. I am a freelance and lifestyle photographer based in Prague, Czech republic. I am 19 years old. I successfully finished high school last month and I will be moving to Berlin for my university. I will be studying photography and fine art.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I like to photograph landscapes and portraits and a bit of urban and architecture. The most usual thing for me is to photograph people in nature. My Instagram gallery consists of travel or lifestyle photography, some campaigns for companies and mostly nature and people.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

I call myself @honza_vu just because my friends and all people call me “honza” which basically means the same as “Jan” but is sounds friendlier in czech. It is something like a nickname. My Instagram nick is nothing special, nothing too complicated. I like things to be clean and clear.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

VSCO. As everyone else.
My routine is a bit more complicated. I come home, backup my pictures. I separate RAW and JPEGs. Then I launch Lightroom 6. Not CC – I wanted to really own the thing and not having to pay monthly. I always add more contrast and I decrease the saturation by 2-5. And the rest I increase and decrease just how I feel it and how I like to picture to look like. I never photoshop pictures btw. Then I use AirDrop and I send the pictures into my phone. I upload them into VSCO and I add +5 on fade. Lately I have been changing my layout so all the pictures are squared.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

To swim in a river under the sky full of stars.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I really enjoy giving to people.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Choose creative photographers with clean shots.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I like the image to be as simple as possible and as clean as possible. And make it as original as possible. Clone, levitate and do all kind of crazy stuff. It’s your playground.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I like how both parties can benefit from it. And together we can give people so basically it is a 3-way benefit.
