Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Ilse Van den Broeck @Glowingskinat50

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m a math teacher in highschool! I was ill during a long period and I couldn’t teach anymore. I was at home and needed to take care of myself. This started with skincare! Due to the fact I’m a researcher I was fascinated in the chemical composition of skincare and in the purposes of single ingrediënts! This lead me to start this account and it started to grow in a way I didn’t expect. Now that I started to teach again, I work half time and combine this with my Instagram account.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

As I informed you in the above question, my main intrest is beauty! Everything skincare, make-up and haircare is top of the bill for me! Lately also supplements came into vision!

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

First our name was Ablissofbeauty, and I say our because I started it together with my daughters! After a while they lost their intrest in beauty and I continued on my own. Due to the fact many people told me I had beautiful glowing skin for my age, I changed the name into Glowingskinat50 because that what I’m aiming at!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

Oooh, after a long period of trial and error I’m now using, Lightroom on my smartphone in combination with Canva to put a name on it, Later to schedule my posts and Storytelling to edit my stories.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

Actually I follow Hannah Martin because she gives a lot of useful tips on make-up. People I followed when their account was small, get too commercial once they reach 20k and more. I try to stick at a short distance of who I am. Actually I want to inform my followers, my main purpose is not to sell!

6) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

My favourite part is my time using skincare/make-up, testing out new products. Actually this is a part of selfcare that I use for business purposes. The day this part feels as going to work, I will quit, because it isn’t the purpose of this account.

7) What’s your favorite part about StarNgage? Any exciting campaigns that you have joined through StarNgage before?

I’m new at StarNgage, I have very high hopes of being able to build beautiful relationships with beautybrands! Hope they find me!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

A make-up brand I would love to work with is certainly Huda Beauty, I love everything they create! Their formulas are so good! Even their skincare line Wishful is really lovely! A skincare brand I would really love to work with is Versed, I love their approach and branding, and everything I used suitable for my skin was a topper! Also Bybibeauty, just launched in the USA is a brand I would love to work with! I have almost the whole ranch in my stash and I love it! Paula’s Choice is also on my radar! The science behind the brand is amazing and it’s just so efficient for my skin!
How do I maintain authenticity? I find this really important! It took a lot of time searching on who I wanted to show on Glowingskinat50, now I’m just me! I reach out to brands I really love, it improves my content. I buy accessories I love and not what I see on the gram! Pick up something out of nature what I love. And I try to limit scrolling on Instagram to a minimum, that limits the unintentional influence of others on my account, but I do want to keep track on new things in the beauty market and therefor I prefer to follow the brands. I use my friendslist on Instagram to check content of nearer collegues.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Make sure you have high resolution pictures with a good camera, it can be a smartphone too, but one with a good camera! Make sure to buy some studio light and tissues you like as a background! Use accessories in the house and start to photograph what you have! In this way you don’t have to invest a large amount of money when you start! Always be your own severest teacher and don’t allow yourself to create mediocre content! Be you and be the one you believe in!

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

What I like about partnering with brands is that they become your friends, you create honest relationships all over the world!
