Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Glorya Sun @imgloryasun

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

Hi, my full name is Gloryatmi Sunarpangesti, but I shorten my name into Glorya Sun. I am currently a student in London School of Public Relations Jakarta and I live in Jakarta, Indonesia.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I’m interested in exploring the places, not only travelling. I like to post about nature attraction in different places. Currently I’m learning photography and I love to combine my photography, nature attraction, also exploring in one. I just started and I have further plans for my timeline.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My instagram name was @itsmegloryoly but then I changed it into @imgloryasun. My old post was all random, about my life. I decided to change it since I started to post about nature attraction, beauty of mother nature, whole different from things I used to post about. Also, I just want to introduce myself as Glorya Sun, not Glory Oly (Oly is my other nickname). Because Sun is the shortened version of my name, it also means sun (the star that earth surrounds) which is identical to summer time and beach days, sun is slang word that means “kiss” in my language.

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

On my phone, I like to edit with Cyberlink Photo Director and Foodie (for food pictures). I can snap the pictures with my phone and then I erase the imperfections and then doing HSL adjusting.

I just bought a DSLR so I set the format into RAW files and then I use Camera RAW from Adobe Photoshop to adjust everything. Sometimes I stop there sometimes I keep going in perfectioning by using the Adobe Photoshop itself.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I’m a huge fan of Jay Alvarrez and his girlfriend (or ex, I have no idea) Alexis Ren. I knew them from their videos on youtube. Jay stopped from school at around 14 or 15 (not because lack of money, yet because he didn’t fit it, he felt school limited his creativity). It doesn’t stop him, he keeps continuing doing things he likes. Now he has produced plenty of commercial videos under the name of Savage Isle Production, the new production house he owns with his friends.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

They just have to free themselves. I don’t have much money but I keep trying in getting my dream to explore the world.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

Being an influencer can change people’s perspectives about things. From bad thing into good things, vice versa. I don’t plan to spread bad influence tho.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

First the brands must choose the right people, those people have to represent the brand. Choosing the wrong ones won’t help the brand to reach the desired targets.

How I mantain my authencity is by being myself. I don’t have to try to be someone else. I can be inspired by people yet I don’t have to copy them. Mix the inspirations and try to create something new.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

High quality content could make people stop, stare, and hit the like button. In the better case, the person will be followed. High quality content could be reach with high quality technology, yet it doesn’t have to be expensive. Work with what you have will be better.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

Partnering with brands of course will benefit me. I will be paid, I can have their stuff without having to buy, get invited to their events. And there must be something I can learn from the brand, whether it’s the managing, how they communicate, how they make the commercials. There must be at least a thing to learn.
