Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Francesca Spada @Mygypsyworld

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I’m Francesca, an Italian based in the London area. I moved in UK three years ago trying to achieve better results in my engineering career. Well, after the first year I started studying at the Central Saint Martins in London and my creative side became bigger and bigger day after day. So, two years after, I’ve put engineering on stand-by, I’m running my fashion blog, I’m a web influencer, I’m working as a free lance personal stylist while developing a couple of start-up projects. The better is yet to come 🙂

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I’m passionate about fashion, travel and lifestyle. I’m continuously looking for the perfect shot, it’s a mental process that I cannot stop. Along with my favourite topics…I take a lot of pictures of my two little dogs (Cavalier King Charles) but I know that I cannot post as much as I shoot them 😉

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

The name came from my blog’s name…and the blog name came because when I started writing it I was travelling a lot (almost every week), so I felt like I had no home but I was a world citizen. From that on I’ve also discovered the informal meaning of the word gypsy that indicates a free-spirited person…and, well, that is so me!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

I usually take pictures with my iPhone 6s Plus, I straighten with the iPhone Photo Edit, then I use PS Express to edit Exposure, Contrast and Temperature. After that I create the white border (that gives “cleanliness” to the Insta feed) with Photo Collage and I rarely use Photo Editor (only if I want to Blur some part of the picture). Last pass is again with the iPhone Photo Edit to check again Light (more Exposure and less Brightness plus a check of the Black Point) and Colour (less Saturation and more Contast). I want all the pictures in my feed “melt” well together. I know I might look a little a maniac, but it is actually what I am.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I love Mikutas for her style, Fighting for her cleanliness and order and Alabasterfox because her flat lays are a continuos inspiration. We, as Instagrammers, might share the same style and/or aestethic but, at the end of the day, we all look different because our creativity is different.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

Be creative, enjoy what you do…but, if you wanna make a job out of it, also be prepared and never stop observing. A creative mind and a creative job need to be nurtured with continuos excitement and motivation. Don’t sit on your ass, move, walk, talk, observe…live life as you always be 3 years old.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I like that I have a creative job and I like choosing to promote only brands or products that I would use anyway. I love interacting with people and answer their queries the best way I can. I’m always amazed to see how people rely on me and how, even without knowing me in person, they care about me. If they read that I’m unwell they send me private messages asking how I feel, and so on. I cannot avoid love all of them!

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

Brands need to study their target audience and the style they wanna obtain in their campaigns, after that they have to choose the best influencers matching these requirements (and the budget of course). I wanna be true to myself and honest with my followers, so I don’t like the idea of promoting something against my ethic, principles or, simply, taste. I’ve refused campaigns because the products were nothing close to my style and I wasn’t comfortable taking pictures of myself wearing it. I think that you can be a good influencer if you truly believe and like the goods you’re promoting. If not, you’re just fake.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

Before you create a campaign you need to carefully check these three items: the campaign brief, the brand style and what other influencers did. You need to adhere to the brief, match the brand style but remastering it with your own taste (that’s the reason why the brand has selected YOU), you DON”T have to copy others campaigns.
We, as influencers, shall always remember that brand are choosing us because they like our style and our taste, so we definitely need to stay true to ourselves. Our style can change over time, my style changed since the last year, or even month, but that is absolutely normal. Style is influenced from the live you’ve got, the city you live in, the travels you do…

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

I love well-known and well-established brands, but these are “easy” to promote. What I like the most is finding new brands with new projects and help them to develop. I like the challenge to bring into light something that isn’t know yet.
