1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?
Well hey there! My name is Elvis Luizinho Dcosta, in short known as Mr. Perfectionist on the Instagram field. I hail form a small town in Kuwait located in the Middle East. I’m currently a college student and a creative freelancer in the field of photography and arts. I’m doing this gig for 4 years now ever since, 2 years out of Instagram and 2 years in it. I’ve got my big break when I was featured for the Nike Sportswear x VSCO collection back in August 2016. Ever since then I’ve skyrocketed in the eyes of my fellow community on Instagram.
2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?
My topic of interest is definitely photography but to be more specific creative visuals. Anything related to art or its specific field has nudged me to own it. I post a lot of color profiled street shots and architecture. I use color a lot because I’m color blind from my right eye and being a disadvantage early on has always given me the ability to showcase the community something different from several clichéd saturated street photography you find on Instagram. It’s a blessing for me as people actually dig what I do and has made this small disadvantage a huge advantage in my field of work. I’m forever grateful for it.
3) How did your Instagram name come about?
My Instagram name came about nothing special honestly, I always believed in making my craft perfect and one day I just thought of it. Soon my ex girlfriend always called me a perfectionist for being heavily dedicated in pursuing perfection in everything and it just caught on. I even tattooed my instagram name on my forearm as a reminder of who I am and what got me this far.
4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!
My favorite apps are definitely VSCO cam/film, Adobe Light Room and lastly but not least Snap seed. I usually shoot RAW from my DSLR and head to light room to alter the colors. From there I do a few fine tweaks using snap seed and I’m good to go!
5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?
I really love street photographers more than anyone I see on Instagram. For me @trashhand, @nopattern, @lastsuspect, @13thwitness & @jasonmpeterson are a few examples that always inspire my craft to strive for perfection even further.
6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?
Well, you definitely have to try using Instagram more obviously, it gives you a platform to shine a lot. And in this day & age without social media its hard to get yourself over out there in the big world. So yeah use it on a regular basis it helps a lot in getting yourself noticed to a wider audience not just for people but also for companies and enterprises focusing on future growth.
7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?
My favorite part would definitely be the community! So many people out there contact me for inspiration and motivational ideas. You get to meet new faces and work with them to create something so unique that other people would love to see what more we’ve got in store to offer, that driving factor every artist truly needs.
8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?
Some of the tips would be to try to always focus on the community because its we common folks who tend to pay for your products. Reach out more for collaborations you never know how helpful it will be for future economic stability. Keep taking risks in designing new products and offering a great bang for buck for everyone to get hands on it than just a select few. And lastly observe your competition and make sure to use an early on advantage in terms of originality and quality.
9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?
Photographers today man.., its almost like a battleground out there you know! everyone’s trying to make a name for themselves out there. I’ve seen a lot of artist post the same thing over and over again & have over 10k+ followers, that’s a shame you know that people are too blind to see such clichéd content when there are young underrated artists out there proving themselves everyday that they got what it takes to reach to the top. My advice would be don’t quit on your craft. A prime example is myself, 4 years and I’m finally getting my big break working with unique brands and spreading a positive message on the gram. Remember hard work beats talent so don’t feel underappreciated, good things are going to come for you, you just have to keep moving forward.
10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?
Brands give an insight into their next big thing always and being a part of it gives us influencers the opportunity to shine through it and make their products stand out. It’s an honor and privilege to be selected for such campaigns and being the first of a few artist out there to get the part is like a dream come true!
