Instagram Influencer Spotlight On: Dylan Davis @Blondeinblue72

1) Tell us a little about yourself. What are you doing now and where do you come from?

I am a 22 year old female police officer in Washington, DC. I just graduated with my Master of Science in Terrorism and Homeland Security Policy. I started college at 14 and am originally from Malibu, California. I use to compete in pageants and competed at the Miss CA. USA pageant in 2014. I am a huge animal lover and even while on patrol, with my Sergeant in the car, I stopped the vehicle to pet a dog. Community policing at its finest! I am an instructor in my police department as well as a crisis intervention officer. I truly love my job. I also volunteer as a firefighter in my spare time.

2) What are your topics of interest? What do you post on Instagram the most?

I love to be outside and in nature, although I am not a fan of camping… I am an animal lover and I use to have so many animals growing up, snakes, dogs, cats, lizards. I wish I had a horse but maybe someday. I mostly post things that are personal to me on my IG. If I feel passionate about something I post it. My page is about as genuine as it gets. If there is a product or business I am promoting, I truly support it and will share that with you.

3) How did your Instagram name come about?

My IG name came from my hair color (blonde) and my job as a police officer. The thin blue line is known for all law enforcement and I figured BlondeinBlue72 was a perfect fit for me. It’s true what they say, you can’t turn off being a cop. But I do like being treated like a lady outside of the uniform. But don’t worry, I can certainly handle my business and cover your six too!

4) What are some apps you use to edit your photos? Share with us your photo-editing routine!

As far as photo editing apps are concerned, I don’t do much editing to my photos. I like them to be real and authentic. The only editing I do is actually just on IG itself. I should use my phone filters more actually.

5) Any Instagrammers whom you really like? Which Instagrammer inspires you the most?

I look at police fitness instagrammers most as well as models like Ashley Graham, Iskra Lawrence, and Kate Upton. These women are curvy, fit, and proud of it. I think women who embrace their bodies and curves are so beautiful. Women worry so much about leg gaps and cellulite, but I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I always say, the number on the scale means nothing. I want to be fit and fabulous. Just be comfortable with who you are. That is what inspires me. All of your bodies are beautiful. If you want to change it then you go girl! Do it for you and rock it. But you are beautiful because of your soul. Everything else will fade.

6) If there’s one thing your fellow Instagrammers just gotta try now, what’s it gonna be?

I think everyone needs to try the Stacked Skincare Microroller ($30). I personally am terrified of needles. But, I must say this tiny roller has worked miracles on my skin.

7) What’s your favorite part about being an influencer?

I think my favorite part is that there are so may people who will just willingly push products for money or whatever people will offer but they either used something else to accomplish what the product was supposed to do or just promote it without using it or liking it at all. I don’t do that. I only suggest what really is what it says. I like to be genuine and real with the companies and with my followers. I always follow my values of Love-Honor-Truth in all I do.

8) What are some of your top tips to brands for running campaigns? How do you maintain authenticity?

I would say find the people who stand with your movement and be open to the ones who aren’t. You never know who will change your life and positively influence you. Opposing ideas often spark great motivation and stronger campaigns. Additionally, stay positive. Life is hard enough. Find the joy in every setback and be grateful. If your day sucks, make someone else’s better.

9) What would your advice be on the importance of quality and original content?

I think that quality is important. I am an avid online shopper and I have received materials that were not worth the cardboard box they came in and it is disappointing. It makes you feel cheated when something is not what you were sold on. Originality comes in many forms… look at all the iPhones that are original but really just improved versions of the last. I think quality is most important. I am cool with buying off brands of the same product if the quality is better.

10) What do you like best about partnering with brands?

It gives me new opportunity to meet people and work with a diverse group. Each brand has different missions and visions and my favorite are those that donate contributions to charities as well as have great products and customer service. It makes me feel like there is always someone doing good in the world.
